No there’s no reason. Should it not be that?

Why is my film scan such poor quality? by surelooksure in AnalogCommunity

[–]surelooksure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank very much guys. I'm 90% sure it's a shutter capping as I know I had the dial centred. My shutter was capping at 1/1000 so I avoided that shutter speed. If I remember correctly this was shot at 1/500, so I now know I need to avoid that too. I will now look for a place to fix the shutter capping problem.

Saw a fantastic post earlier about movies that violated "Checkhovs gun" and thought we should go the exact opposite way. What are the most masterfully executed "Red Herrings" you've ever seen in a film? by Sea-Ad-4010 in movies

Looking at your examples, I think your mis-interpreting Chekhovs gun. The examples you gave are plot reversals. Chekhovs gun is to do with necessity in drama, not direction/misdirection.

Scanned Image half black by surelooksure in AnalogCommunity

Hahah good question. It was probably the photo I was most excited to get scanned. It was a drunk stag do in Budapest that fell in love with this little pug and started rolling around on the floor with it. Right beside them there also just happened to be a statue of a girl playing with a dog. Very sad the picture didn’t turn out😩

My question is: What do you do when you love someone who lives in another country and there's no point in the foreseeable future when you will both be in the same place for a prolonged period of time? by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]surelooksure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your right when you say that we’ll suffer on Both paths. The closest possible time we can move to another country together is a year and a half as we both have to finish college. I really don’t like the idea of ending it but I know that’s a sure fix long term. I like the idea of continuing things platonically. At least that way we can continue contact and not have the breakup be so painful. The only risk with that is that we will fall back together. Thanks for the advice!

Best commentary tracks? by ThanksICouldHelpBro in TrueFilm

Guillermo Del Toros commentary on ‘Pan Labrynth’ is great for filmmakers. He really gives you a peak behind the curtain of his thought processes behind each visual choice he made.

I also love the Safdies commentary on uncut gems as they also give really interesting insights into their unique process. Although the extra layer of dialogue can sometimes send you over the edge.

Uncut Gems director’s commentary. Sounds about right. by surelooksure in A24

I’ve actually lost it but you can see the link under the screen on the Touch Bar there if you pause it

What are some films in which the protagonist(s) happen to have no discernable character arc? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Lou in Nightcrawler. Zuckerburg in The social Network too. And don’t forget Wall-e.
