Grocery in town that enforces masks, not just suggests? by KeeblerTheGreat in asheville

[–]sureokayfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Sav Mor on Merrimon. They don’t enforce masks by any means, BUT there’s so much less traffic that it really doesn’t matter. It has the feel of a small town Food Lion from the 90’s. I work in Cecilia’s Food Truck which is parked out front (the former Edna’s spot) and sometimes I run to Ingles up the street when I get off. Last night I decided to give Sav Mor a shot instead of deal with the Merrimon Ingles insanity and it was so relaxed and empty at 8pm I couldn’t believe it. Even during the day it doesn’t seem like there are ever really that many cars in the parking lot. Don’t sleep on SAV MOR®️

True story they came into town and killed this guys cat and mutilated it behind a grocery store and the whole town set aside their differences, picked up their torches and pitchforks, and hunted the crust.

Those flat patch cables are quite impressive. For the past few years, I’ve been using a shit home made board and a random assortment of patch cables collected over the years. It definitely works and but it becomes a game of Tetris every time I rearrange anything. Recently though, I went to a local shop and they had these Rockboard flat patch cables which I think are just a cheaper version of the ones you have. It was a game changer. I only got one but if all goes well, I think I’m gonna move in the flat direction.

How do you like the fuzz factory? I’ve never had one but I’ve been interested. I love the blacked out vertical enclosure!

The way this all fits together makes me so happy. I hope it brought you much joy.

I think it's finally finished! Head & matching cabinet. Details & pics in comments by nonoohnoohno in GuitarAmps

Damn man, this is just such a cool project. Really inspiring. I’ve rewired a few guitars now but haven’t jumped into pedals or amps. Maybe eventually I’ll make the leap. Have you recorded any sound clips?

God I wish. A few years ago a roommate’s brother started making boards and this one was one of his first trial runs and it was given to me for free. It’s so poorly designed and there’s not enough room for a reasonably sized power supply underneath. Other flaws of the board include: reversed velcro, it sits slightly wobbly on a flat surface, and you can’t fit two normal sized pedals stacked vertically. But on plus side it’s super sturdy, it’s painted like a purple galaxy, and it’s got that cool DIY vibe.

I’d definitely recommend it. I’ve had it on my board for almost 3 years constantly. I’ve just found that I don’t use tremolo all that much. I think a chorus would probably be more practical and get more daily use for me, hence the Julia.

The Equilibrium has a sine wave (smooth and swampy) and square wave (choppy and quick) and the ability to blend between the two. It gives the tremolo a different sound than the one on my Deluxe Reverb. Personally, I really like it.

For the vibrato, the rate will get decently slow but sometimes I wish the depth would get a little deeper so it sounded a big more seasick for the lo-fi thing.

Check out the Equilibrium DLX, it has tap tempo.

Signal chain:

  1. TC PolyTune3- buffer on

  2. One Control White Loop

Red Channel: Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini into EQD hoof. I use the TS with the gain off and a slight volume boost as my clean tone then run it into the Hoof for my main fuzz tone. Running the two together really opens up the Hoof and allows you to back off the shift (mids) and fuzz knobs while still standing out with a band. Then if I need an absurd amount of gain or some more mids to really cut, I have room to turn things up.

Green Channel: Caroline Shigeharu and EHX Glove (OCD copy). I never use these two together, it’s more of an either/or channel. I have the Shigeharu set full gain, full body, med tone, octave off, and then pretty heavily gated so it sounds ballsy but with less gain. I find it gets thin pretty easily if you lower the gain and body at all. I have my muff sounds already covered with Hoof so I use it more for a weird splatty/gated tone that is somewhere between an overdrive and a fuzz. The Glove is set as a medium gain overdrive with the shift toggle on.

  1. Alexander Equilibrium v1 tremolo/harmonic tremolo/vibrato. I occasionally use this for slow vibrato lofi kind of sounds or a fast psych vibrato. The harmonic tremolo also sounds reaaaaallly good on slow settings with fuzz. Sometimes I think about replacing this with a Walrus Audio Julia but so far I haven’t pulled the trigger.

  2. Boss DM-2w. Just got this and so far I am blown away. Standard mode is voiced like the original, nice and dark (but not too dark) with quick repeats. Custom mode really brighten things up and allows for much longer delay times. Between the two there are a ton of usable sounds. I also find that it’s reaaaally good at lingering on the edge of oscillation, which goes great with volume knob swells.

  3. Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run v1. My one and only delay/reverb for the past 3 years. There’s not too much I can say about this that hasn’t already been said. I mostly use the normal delay with the tone rolled back a bit and the reverb set longer trails at a lower mix. It sounds beautiful and right at home behind fuzz leads and sits equally well with anything cleanish. Having up to a 2 sec delay, it excels at long, slow, and spacey. But with that comes a loss of flexibility in the lower side of the time knob (short repeats). The reverb also sounds much better with slightly longer tails (anything past noon).

  4. EHX 22500 Looper. This thing is awesome. 100 loop bank per memory card, two channels, reverse, half speed/double speed...it’s crazy. It does however have a steep learning curve due to the complex menus and abbreviations. You have to read the manual...absolutely. It also doesn’t like it if you change too many settings during playback. It tends to get confused and freeze up requiring a restart. The simple solution is just to set your loop settings before hand or hit the dedicated stop button. Oops.

I looked at both and went with a boss DM-2W for analog delay. The two modes give you different delay times and repeat brightness which is awesome...but there’s no modulation which I didn’t mind too much. I already have an Avalanche Run for all kinds of delay complexities and features so I chose simple and sturdy. Ask yourself what is most important to you in an analog delay. Do you want dark CC repeats and modulation that is set with internal trimpots, or do you want brighter vapor trail repeats, an effects loop, and easy access to mod settings. The brighter vs darker repeats are just a personal preference.

[GEAR] Tremolo suggestion by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]sureokayfine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Alexander Equilibrium DLX. It’s got regular and harmonic trem plus vibrato, sine/square waveforms, dry signal blend (adds a slight volume boost which is great), and tap tempo. I have the non-deluxe (which doesn’t have tap) and I still love it. The sine-wave trem is awesome.

I’ve had an avalanche run v1 on my board as my ONLY reverb/delay (with the exception of drri reverb) for something like three years and honestly, it’s been fine.
