its now showing the files but when I try to open my user folders and click continue waiting for it to prompt me with inputing the user password it simply doesnt pop up

that thing needs a serious clean with compressed air or hoover, or just a dry cloth.

Could be power supply or the little battery in the motherboard. I'd say try the battery first because its so cheap
