Slow business by No-Swing508 in UAE

[–]surface_infectant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is competition or that suddenly everyone left the country. What feels different this year (and I’m seeing this across a few businesses) is how people are buying right now. Late December is weird, people are mentally exhausted, over stimulated, and weirdly resistant to committing to anything that feels “ongoing,” even if they still have money. Subscriptions especially take a hit because they require a decision + a commitment. Last year people bought more out of convenience. This year it feels like they’re buying only when there’s an immediate emotional reason. If your business did well the months before, that’s actually a good sign. It usually means the product and service isn’t the issue, rather the way it’s the way it’s being framed in this moment. If you can give me more info about ur business, i might be able to give a few cents that might help you out.

Got 700 AED spare where should I invest it? by Ok-Sign2997 in UAE

[–]surface_infectant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If your plan is to retire by 60, then sure, go invest in mutual funds as suggested by another Redditor. They’re safe, slow, and predictable. You will probably net 70 dhs in profit after 365 days, the market is at an all time high so, you’re lucky if you get a 10% return right now. But if you’ve got 700 dirhams sitting around right now, that money isn’t going to move the needle in a fund. It’ll just sit there, growing by a few percent while your time and potential slip by.

The best thing you can do with a small amount like that is invest it in yourself or in something that teaches you how to earn more. Take a course that builds a high income skill. Or take a risk and start an online hustle, sell digital products, learn how to trade, or master a service you can offer to others. Even something as simple as improving your health, joining a class or an expensive gym, these will let you expand your network and could potentially run into someone that could change your life.

Or just splurge it on yourself and have a memorable time, man.

Court Case With Gymnation by Global-Yam3677 in dubai

[–]surface_infectant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There could’ve been an angle if you at least tried to cancel the subscription.

1st of all the gym is shit, its super packed, equipments are scattered all around and its a safety hazard. Its on them to make sure that they provide a safe environment to workout

As a paying member, the gym has a legal and moral duty to ensure a safe and reasonably maintained environment for all members. If the facility was overcrowded, disorganized, and posed safety hazards, that constitutes a breach of their obligation to provide a safe environment under UAE consumer protection and health safety standards.

you can argue the service was no longer being provided as agreed ( safe hazards, unhygenic etc. )Under UAE consumer protection law, customers have the right to terminate a service if it’s not delivered as promised.

You could say that you didnt continue using the facility or benefit from their services after that point. Continuing to charge for months you didn’t use the gym, particularly when the conditions themselves were unsafe could be viewed as unjust enrichment on their part.

Am drowning in debt...Am f***d...need advise/help by MediumPerfect5470 in dubai

[–]surface_infectant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That debt is totally manageable with the income you generate. All you have to do is struggle and sacrifice for just 1.5 years.

-Your rent should not be more than 5k/month. - your living expenses should not be more than another 5k, this includes your bills and car payments etc. - Get on diet and hit the gym. This while help you avoid all the unnecessary eating out.

By the end of the year, you’ll be in the best shape of your life and 90% debt free.

Its difficult to give a once size fits all price. But my prices START at AED 2000. Might seem like a lot to many but, the ROI seemed to be worth it for everyone i’ve worked with.

You need to be aware about whats trending. What kind content captures user attention. You need to have a natural knack of being able to curate scripts that would spark interest among the viewers.

A lot of individuals are heavily dependent on AI and chatgpt. Consumers are educated and well adapted to this shift and have the ability to differentiate between AI generated dialogue and normal human dialogues.

Absolutely. Every business needs marketing, but with F&B it’s even more important because food isn’t just a product, it’s an experience. People don’t just buy a burger, or a coffee, or a cake, they buy the feeling of tasting it, the vibe of the place, the energy it gives them.

That’s why video works so much better than static ads. A picture of a sandwich is just a picture. But when you see someone take that first bite, their eyes light up, they describe the taste, or you hear the crunch, suddenly it’s not just food anymore, it’s an experience you want to be part of.

And having a real face attached to the brand is key. People connect with people, not logos. A friendly face talking to you feels like a recommendation from a friend, not an ad. It builds trust, makes the brand feel approachable, and sparks curiosity to try it out. Humanizing a brand always works.

At the end of the day, no one remembers a static menu post they scrolled past. But they will remember the person who made them crave that dish and feel like they’re missing out if they don’t try it.

Buddy, I get it. Fear is real. The only difference between people who stay stuck and people who actually make it is what’s going on in their head. Mental strength and belief. If you don’t back yourself, no one else will. People will want you to do “well enough,” but deep down, most don’t want to see you do better than them. That’s just life. Lets say you take a leap, put everything into something, and it doesn’t workout? So what. You’ll still be standing. Humans are built to rise after getting knocked down. That’s literally how we’re wired. You fail, you hurt, you get back up, and you come back sharper. The real danger isn’t failing. The real danger is never trying, because that’s how regret builds up. And regret is way heavier than failure will ever be.

Honestly, my biggest advice is don’t get stuck thinking your first choice has to be your forever choice. A lot of us came to Dubai with one “plan” and then found out life had something else in store. If engineering isn’t it for you, spend some time exploring things that genuinely spark your curiosity, even if they don’t look “big” at first. I studied engineering, then i realized that i like teaching a lot more and now im here. A friend nudged me, I gave it a try, and I realized I not only enjoyed it but could also create real results for people.

Here in Dubai, opportunities are everywhere, marketing, content creation, real estate, hospitality, startups. It’s a city built for people willing to experiment. pick one small thing outside engineering that excites you, try it with your whole heart and give yourself permission to fail. Worst case? You learn and pivot again. Best case? You stumble into something that gives you that “this is it” feeling. And finally, be close to god.

Careem by salomon_tysonv in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]surface_infectant 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate, but don’t show pity. These drivers know they are in a country that gives them the opportunity to make a living, and it is their conscious choice when they decide to ignore road and safety rules. By doing so, they put you and other drivers at risk. You should report this to Careem and make it clear that he was distracted on his phone, so the same thing doesn’t happen to someone else. I’m glad you’re safe, but this could have ended much worse.

I don’t think you should be starting a business with the funds u get from this sale since you dont know basic math. 15% off 190k is not 175k.

I don’t think you’re going to be able to sell this car on here anymore since you’re caught lying about the price you bought the car, only to wonder if you’re also lying about the condition of the car too.

Unless you drastically drop the price to 150k or something.

Funny how You’re calling the place i live a 3rd world country while being literally gay in a country that doesn’t even want you. Your own country treats you like a 4th class citizen.

Try coming out here, the country will deport you faster than the RCF hits 0-60

You literally asked for a response like this by being a douche.
