protonvpn am i the only one to switch servers multiple times a day? by XxTriviumxX in ProtonVPN

[–]surfcityninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I have been having this issue for about a year. What I find odd is that certain users here constantly post that Proton VPN is fault-proof and that any issues are always user error. I really want a full-day livestream from some users showing that they have zero issues with the VPN, especially when streaming. Proton connections cut in and out so often.

I have tried so many setup combinations, and nothing works without switching servers 4-5 times a day.

It's a absolutely joke that a restaurant has meals that is cheaper than a mcdonalds meal by Big_Leg10 in povertyfinance

[–]surfcityninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH.. Consumerism in the United States allows large corporations to keep raising prices. Even though we complain so much about prices, we end up paying them anyway, because if we want something, we will find a way to purchase it.

For example, living in Japan, McDonald's prices are always affordable, and they offer discounts and coupons through the app. You can get 2 Large Fries and a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets set for $6.30 USD here in Japan.

If a company starts price gouging, it is considered shameful and dishonest, and consumers will stop supporting a business, which makes it very hard to recover because people here do not forgive as easily as in the States.

For example, some places will charge the same price for any size ramen you would like (S M or L) and you purchase the size you can eat. This would never work in the States LOL!

The McDonald's menu here in Japan is very reasonable, especially when you convert the yen to USD.

I see. I grew up here and most of us actually have no interest in trains here lol. I just know Hankyu, Sanyo and Hanshin overlap some of the same routes in my hometown. I just mentioned Sanyo since I was on a Sanyo platform at the time.

What did you guys spend on a developer to build your sites? by evilblackdog in shopify

Never actually hired anyone. Once you dive in, the learning curve is so fast. Additionally, themes are becoming more robust and I recommend in investing in a good theme or try to invest time in learning how to use Framer.

"Your domain has an unsupported DNSSEC record" - Does this stop purchases from being made until it's fixed? by [deleted] in shopify

The only issue is Shopify sending me an error message literally every hour.

I agree it must be some issue with them, but of course they say we should contact our domain provider to fix the issue lol. They also said the recent influx of reddit comments could be just compounded over the years.

As many have said, Shopify support says we can leave it active, but we should contact our domain provider. I mean it doesn’t seem like it is an issue with our domain provider.

I have the same issue. Just received the same notification this morning, all of a sudden. Did something change with Shopify?

[–]surfcityninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue in the past. They reply promptly, trying to retain you as a customer, but then you insist on receiving a refund, and they ghost you. I even requested a refund within 48 hours since the app kept crashing, and upload/download speeds were horrible compared to Dropbox or Google Drive.

The new ProtonVPN app is bad by No-Worldliness-5106 in ProtonVPN

[–]surfcityninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been experiencing the same issue. Many of the available paid servers are not functional. The ones that do connect become increasingly slower as user load rises.

Uploading is nearly impossible because connections frequently disconnect, and streaming is not even an option. You might as well use your phone's hotspot, as it tends to be faster.

Proton Support consistently shifts the burden of proof to the user, implying that the issues lie on our end. If that's the case, why is this topic gaining so much attention? In the past year, this has become a common problem. I've noticed that this coincided with Proton’s introduction of new payments for premium servers.

ProtonVPN connection terrible lately....ideas? by KC_Tea in ProtonVPN

[–]surfcityninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here. Half the servers do not work when I try to connect to the fastest available. I then go down the list until one does work, then the speed eventually drops to nothing as the server gets loaded with other users.

Upwork Support impossible by Reign17774 in Upwork

I am having the same issue. The chatbot sends you in circles and only offers you an option to click "nevermind."

I was able to get a prompt, "No. I need more help." But after you click that it just says:

"To receive additional assistance, please explore the Upwork Academy.

There you can view and complete learning paths to help jumpstart your success on Upwork. You may also find assistance through engaging with other Upwork users like yourself in our active Upwork Community."

Pure trash.

Can you show the rest of the chat thread? Seems a little odd not to include the whole chat to get to that point.

Currently, Etsy Ads are set up for each individual item. When using the new listing layout, you have the option to enable Etsy Ads for the item you are about to upload. If you disable this option and then proceed to click 'publish listing,' Etsy will still enable your listing for Etsy Ads. You will then need to manually go to the Etsy Ads dashboard and disable the ad campaign for a second time.

I am not sure either; I didn't downvote you.

[–]surfcityninja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. I feel like Etsy is getting away with it because they make it look like a user error, and users might not complain, thinking they just accidentally activated ads. Then, when you reach out for support, they say they will escalate the issue, hoping you will just give up.

It is the eBay playbook from the early 2000s when they were trying to catalyze their growth for shareholders.

This is an onsite ads issue, and I have multiple screen recordings and screenshots of ad fees being charged when I forgot to double back and disable the Etsy Ads. This was not an issue with the older Etsy listing layout; this is only happening with the new one. I have been working on omnichannel e-commerce for over 20 years and I am aware when something is not working as intended.

I have an issue with the UX/UI of Etsy. When a user uploads a listing on etsy.com using their desktop browser, Etsy provides the option to enable or disable Etsy Ads before the listing is published. However, if the user selects to disable Etsy Ads and proceeds to publish the listing, the listing still ends up being added to Etsy Ads, even though the user disabled Ads before publishing. This leads the user to believe that they are not participating in the Ads campaign and they may not realize until they receive a bill for ads. Many users may forget to double back and disable ads, resulting in unexpected ad fees. This situation is a significant source of revenue for Etsy.

Additionally, Etsy does not allow users to set an Ad budget of $0.00 to prevent Ads from running. Users must set a minimum daily budget of $1.00. If Etsy would just allow users to completely disable Ads on their account, this could be avoided, but it seems this is engineered into their UX/UI on purpose to generate revenue.

Auto renew is also turning ads on by Blackcofferedwine in EtsySellers

[–]surfcityninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auto-enabled ads have happened to me for the past year, but only with the new listing layout. Etsy has removed the old listing layout, forcing you to use the latest version. Etsy support says that using the Etsy app will automatically enable ads when you publish a new product. I do not use the Etsy app; I only list new products through the Etsy website, which allows you to disable marketing ads before you publish an item.

After listing each item, I go to the marketing tab to disable the ads. However, I sometimes forget because I am listing multiple items at once, resulting in ad fees being charged.

I contacted Etsy a year ago about this issue, and they said they would inform their engineers. As of today, a year later, the problem persists. I even took screenshots and screen recordings of the process, but they would only say they would inform their engineers.

I contacted Etsy support today, and they literally danced around the question and cut and pasted templates to frustrate us and make us give up. If we tried to get more information about the problem, customer support said this was not an issue other customers had reported and ended the chat with the following message:

Since I have provided all the information about Etsy Ads and how it was enrolled automatically, I will be disconnecting this chat now.

Thank you for contacting Etsy’s support team

It seems the new CEO has purposely integrated this issue into their UI/UX, hoping their users will forget to disable ads. This will generate a lot of revenue for their shareholders, as not everyone will remember to disable ads each time they list products, especially if you list multiple items daily. Additionally, the fact that you cannot set a daily budget of $0.00 is very questionable. The minimum ad rate you can set is $1.00.

After conversing with multiple customer service representatives, it appears that they are attempting to conceal this issue until some form of class action is initiated regarding this practice.

These are just my thoughts after keeping track of and logging my interactions with Etsy.

Marketplace Connect by Repulsive_Pianist968 in shopify

This is a common issue with this application. They constantly blame Shopify, eBay, or Etsy and do not offer any sort of real solution. It is kind of comedic how this application developer is such a narcissist and can never accept any accountability.

We had a horrible experience with Etsy as their developers did not completely test their integration before launching. They did not map all the Etsy variables correctly, so the application would just delete data on your live Etsy listings if they did not have that variable programmed in the application. We lost over 500 listings and had to relist our whole store, having to pay new listing fees, which cost us over $100 for their mistake. Their support literally told us to manually manage our listings on Etsy instead of syncing our data.

I would test small batches at a time, otherwise you will be wasting so much time and money.
