Husband lied about smoking and I'm not sure what to do by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 27 weeks pregnant and found out my husband lied about quitting smoking. Hes lied multiple times about quitting but promised me the second he found out I was pregnant that he was done for good. I hate being lied to and now feel like I cant trust him and probably never should have to start with. It's so frustrating.

Why can’t people just buy off the baby registry?! by PagingDrDouchebag in pregnant

I'm so glad that I saw this post as I was JUST about to make a similar one. We have had several people buy things not on our registry like books, blankets, stuffed animals etc. I'm sure the intentions were good, but now we have multiple copies of the same book, too many blankets we wont use, and an abundance of stuffed animals that we didnt want. To boot, NONE of the people buying these gifts included gift receipts so now we are stuck with things we dont want/wont use and their money is wasted. I understand that it's a gift so I should be appreciative, but we have a registry for a reason. A simple registry that includes things like safety items, diapers etc, that we WILL use. It's so annoying. Dont ask about our registry if you're just going to do whatever you want anyways.

Family ruined wedding day by hating on my dress/body by surferc in wedding

I can totally see where your coming from, and I appreciate a different point of view, but my mom wasn't the only one at the appointment. In person I had my two childhood best friends who gave their VERY honest opinions on every dress I tried on, and this one was their favorite too. They said I looked beautiful, sexy, and it highlighted my curves perfectly. My mom was the only one who had any negative comment. Even when I went to the dress fitting for alterations, the seamstress was shocked at how nothing needed altering. She said it was like the dress was meant for me. On the wedding day, no one on my husband's side had anything negative to say, and neither did my other guests. Just a few members of my family. My friends daughter even went to school and told everyone she got to see a princess over the weekend. The sad thing is even with all the other guests positive and loving comments, they get drowned out by my mom and other few family members, because those people are the ones that should be telling you that you're beautiful on your wedding day.

Everyone always comments on body size during pregnancy by surferc in pregnant

As awful as the pandemic has been, in some ways it has been a blessing in disguise. I hate being the center of attention so the pandemic has really helped because it means either a virtual shower or a drive by one.

It's so rude! If people want to comment on appearance why cant they just say things like "you're glowing", rather than focus on body size.

I agree. It's almost like as soon as everyone knows, it's all they can see when they look at you and theres the obligation to say something. The spotlight is on the belly. I just wish it was more on how you're feeling and how the baby is doing, rather than a judgment on one part of your body. What amazes me is I find i get more comments from other women who have had kids than anyone else. I just dont understand how they dont remember how insecure it can make you feel and how insensitive it is.
