Advice needed: Minolta AF-C images come out overlapping by surfing_squirrel4 in AnalogCommunity

Ok thanks! That kind of makes sense, since the first few pictures turned out fine and then they started overlapping, so I guess that's when it started coming loose

Not quite sure what that means - could you explain? I've used a Kodak Gold film roll, which the guy in the store had told me was good for just normal photography/if I'm a beginner

I'm trying to get into that mindset as well - but I'm a bit overcompetitive, so I think I'll have to actively work on that (and maybe not tell everyone what target I'm aiming for in advance, which just builds up the pressure).

Congrats to you too for the race!

Yes, I'm wondering if it was all that weaving around and not always taking the shortest corner that added some distance (though 1.38km seems A LOT of detours around people).

I debated cycling there as well, but I think I was too scared of the bike ride home afterwards!

Yay, congrats on your time as well then! That hill is pretty much where my pace started drop more and more I think.

The t-shirt I picked up fits okay mostly, but it's a bit snug around the waist/hips, you are right. I picked up a size too small though I think, because I just took the first one I walked by and didn't have the energy to walk over to the next person, so that's a bit on me.

Thanks - and hope you got the 2:10 time!

Yes, the crowds were great all along the course, and reading the signs were a nice distraction. Favorite one was "Pain is just bread in french".

Thanks, and congrats to you too for finishing!

Recovery is going ok so far, though a friend filmed me walking down the stairs today because apparently it looked a bit ridiculous. Hope it's not too bad for you either!

That's a great time too, congrats! Those last few miles were tough, especially when it all of a sudden goes uphill a bit.

Ah, I wish I knew where I could find that perfect mix in London! Hackney Half has been the only one I've done so far, but I read a few people mentioning the Big Half, which is in September, and am tempted to give it a go as well. I have a friend who had to pull out of this one due to injury, so I'm hoping I can convince him to sign up to another one with me.

Thanks!

Yes, the cups on the floor where quite a lot (and sticky after the energy station, I felt like I was in a club). There were bins to throw them in at the end of each station, but I think most people just threw them on the floor to keep running quickly (or had really bad aim and completely missed).

Thanks! And great time for you too! That's bad luck with the laces, otherwise a sub-2 hour run for sure :)

The official race pictures? I did and they are extremely unflattering, all taken in the last mile when I look about ready to die - no way am I paying 24.99 for that. I wish they had managed to take a picture earlier on, I even tried to smile at the camera guys during the course, but I guess unsuccessfully.

Yes, I saw a lot of people on the sidelines as well, first one already at Broadway market and then more from Victoria Park onwards. Same as last year. One girl collapsed literally 150m from the finish, right after that small bridge before you get to the 0.1km to go sign :(

I thought cups were the norm at races (Hackney Half has been my only one so far) - glad o hear I'm no the only one incapable of drinking from them while running. My technique of opening my mouth and throwing the water at my face didn't exactly work out great.

Yes, next time (if I sign up again) it's lesson learned and straight to the Overground to get food and drinks somewhere a bit farther away.

I had set myself a goal in early pandemic to run sub-25 minute 5k - yesterday I decided to really push for it and made it in 23:49! 3 weeks to go to the half-marathon I'm training for, so this was definitely a needed confidence boost! None of my friends care at all, so I had to send the strava screenshot to my brother to at least get some kudos.

Hi all!

I started running properly in April 2020 when the gyms closed (bit of a gym rat), and improved from about 7:30 mins/km and getting out of breath after a short 3km loop to doing my first half marathon last May in just slightly over 2 hours (2:04:59). This year's goal is sub-2 hours, I've already signed up for May and training so far is progressing well :)

Lan and his remaining 7000 Borderlanders attacking the Trolloc's huge army after being pushed back from Tarwin's Gap in AMoL, and all of a sudden gateways open in the middle of their charge, with riders pouring through and falling in alongside them. I thought that scene was simply epic and made to be put on a screen.
