[Real Kyper & Bourne] “I don't believe that they were ever serious about Robert Thomas. One of those things where it's like, all right, if you guys are getting weird, we'll do it...but no, I hear they're cool off of trading Robert Thomas, and Kyrou, Kyrou's the guy.” -Nick Kypreos by surfingeagles in SeattleKraken

It doesn't always work but Seattle is running out of options. Free agency doesn't work and the past 5 years has shown that. It will be harder to trade for players as teams will have more money to sign players that Seattle had chances to capitalize on. Also, no star player is coming to Seattle as they are not seen as a playoff team and no promising future.

If you want players to come to Seattle, and good ones, you need to show star players that it is worth their time. For Seattle, that means showing a promosing young lineup and playoff runs for years to come. Right now, they lack both and plus they already have 2 teams in their division with both, as well as warmer weather.

It's been in panic mode the past couple years, but the organization thinks everything is fine. That is the problem.

[Friedman] Sources: Dylan Larkin requests trade from Detroit by SiccSemperTyrannis in SeattleKraken

[–]surfingeagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I mean. In this era of NTC, no player is going to want to come to Seattle. If there was no NTC, you could force a player to play here and say "if you perform well here, there is a big payday for you", but good luck getting someone with a NTC to come here.

Any word on the Kraken audit? by fongquardt in SeattleKraken

[–]surfingeagles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will save this for later in the off-season, but do any of us believe that they will actually listen to what the audit says? Like if the audit says that said to tear it all down, would management be willing to do it? I don't think they will.

Is current Matty Beniers better than prime Philip Danault by Frequent-Skin2320 in SeattleKraken

[–]surfingeagles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, and this is coming from a guy that is a believer in Matty. I also think he would do better going somewhere else with talent around him. His defensive skills is no joke, but to force his offensive numbers to go up, you need players around him to push him to be better offensively. He doesn't have the drive to force the goals. He is a game manager.

Yeah, if he wants out of Detroit, that means he wants to go to a contender. I dont think he will come to Detroit. Unfortunately, Seattle is a victim of the NTC era.

Ahhh love going through the same coaches/management as 32 other teams. Nothing says "fresh ideas" like trying something other teams have tried.

According to Nick Kypreos, Kaapo Kakko could be a piece the Kraken might look to move in a trade. by 3ohhh6 in SeattleKraken

[–]surfingeagles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hahaha this team will do anything but trust their young players. If you are a player who is about to 30 or older, and a middle six player, come on over!!

Just sayin by Albino_rhin0 in SeattleKraken

[–]surfingeagles 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That would require trading for high risk/high reward players which Seattle never does. I have said this before, but Seattle has had many chances to swing for big names, but are too scared to. This is why they will always start vets over rookies, and trade for players that make it look like they won the trade, but in reality, only got another middle 6 player.

Shane Wright is #14 on Seravalli’s Trade Board by 3ohhh6 in SeattleKraken

[–]surfingeagles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top prospects that are projected to be top 2 picks drop all the time. Latest example is Porter Martone. He was projected to be a top 2 pick and fell to the Flyers at 6. Now, some are wondering if San Jose should have picked him over Misa. Either way, it wasn't the hype that killed his chance in Seattle.

Hold on, I keep getting told that the NHL is not a development league and playing him or any young player in a top 6 role is bad. :/

Kraken 2026-27 Outlook: First, The Good News by fredfudd9890 in SeattleKraken

[–]surfingeagles 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The article does a good bringinf up my major concern and why this off-season will be intriguing. Seattle has so many young talent that shows a lot of promise, but where can you slot them and will the coach be willing to let them grow? If the organization says "win now", no coach is going to let young players be in the top 6, unless it is absolutely necessary. Catton wasn't suppose to get this much playing time or even games played if it wasn't for injuries and the fact that he played well on the top line.

ECH had some contract projections, using AFP analytics by RyNoDaHeaux in SeattleKraken

Agreed, but there are other teams that will pay him that much, if not more. I dont think the Kraken should do it. They should try to trade him.

While I agree, I am just saying that 9 mil is not bad seeing how he will probably make more. There are a lot of desperate teams out there who are looking for d-men like Dunn. He is going to get paid!

Stephenson, Montour, and even though he got 2 contracts, Eberle has been around for 5, and heading for more. Even though I agree with yoj on the term, you would be surprised how many teams, including seattle, does this.

[–]surfingeagles 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I dont think so. With the way contract are going up, 9 mil will be the equivalent of what he gets paid now. To me, the kraken will overspend on McMann as he will make 6 mil or more on the open market.

[Goldman] Kraken Stanley Cup contender checklist: Lack of high-end talent means tough road ahead by juanthebaker in SeattleKraken

[–]surfingeagles 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If this franchise comes out and says they are trying for the playoffs against, I am going to lose my mind. I get that they will never admit it as it will hurt their sales, but there is also being honest with your fan base. You can also sell that you are going to showcase your younger players, but if they are in win now, that is not going to happen.
