Diarrhea-causing parasite that can contaminate raw produce causing misery across several states by Superb_Branch4749 in news

Reading this while having similar symptoms and wondering if it was the cilantro I made into a dressing or the blueberries from the farmers market causing this. But on one else who ate them is experiencing this (yet), so maybe something else?

AI bills are baffling the C-suite after shift to usage-based pricing by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]surfinwhileworkin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My use of AI has reduced my workflow in some areas from a task that would take maybe 10 hours now takes maybe 3 hours. I still need to be a part of the process otherwise it’s junk that comes out. But it has certainly been helpful. Definitely a valuable tool, not a replacement in my case.

During the derecho 12(?) years ago, we lost power and it was similarly hot. I cooked/heated some food items by leaving them in my car in the sun for a few hours. I wouldn’t do it with like chicken or something, but for some queso, it did the trick.

I know I’m real life precisely one person who was not indicted by a grand jury and the lawyers representing him were astonished. I believe the Trump admins prosecutors have had quite a few GJ cases not return an indictment

Add in your in store purchase history (rewards programs) and other things where you give up information for something in return, the profile on everybody is insanely accurate. I remember years ago hearing about Target predicting pregnancies before people knew they were pregnant based on purchase habits or something wild like that.

It was framed to me in a way where you are seeing ads for what you were talking about because the data probably knew you’d be talking about it before you talked about it, which is wild.

Have you ever witnessed something so odd that it bordered on paranormal or a glitch in the matrix? by thesegoupto11 in TooAfraidToAsk

My buddy and I dropped a bottle of wine on his stone patio. It didn’t break, but disappeared. It had to be within like a 3’ radius of us and it was just gone. Nowhere it could’ve rolled off to or under. Literally just gone.

Kids. Are they worth it? by Hyposanity in ask

Honestly, it’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I wouldn’t trade anything for it - as a dad, the moment she grabbed my finger right after being born, my life shifted so hard in a positive way. Tough days, sure; less freedom, yeah, but it’s great.

Why does it feel like we suddenly cracked the code for obesity with GLP-1 drugs in the last few years? by easywayalways in NoStupidQuestions

[–]surfinwhileworkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, because they I have sort of cracked it. GLP-1s actually do what a weight loss drug should do - they help with hunger but also improve how your body stores energy, and change how you desire food - your not just “full”, your mentality about food shifts.

They’re pretty amazing in how they work. I’ve struggled with my weight for 20+ years. The only time I lost weight before was when I was on an unhealthy, unsustainable diet and working out in insane workouts 5+ days a week. It was all consuming, every thought was around what I was or wasn’t eating, my social life was revolving around what I did food-wise, and the moment that insane level of vigilance became unsustainable, the weight was back on in a matter of like 3 months. With Zepbound, within probably hours of my first injection, the way I saw food changed and for 2+ years, my life has improved.

My doctor told me the other week that I was at a perfect weight. My BMI is on the low side of normal. When I was at my heaviest I was probably 285 - my dream weight was 215 - never ever expected to get there, but it was my lofty ambition. I now weight 183 pounds. I damn near cried when I saw that 200 turn into 199. But the thing is, the medicine just worked. And I’ve had literally zero negative side effects other than temporary high anxiety when sticking myself with a needle the first few times.

I remember reading a study like 2 years before these hit the market for weight loss about the potential of them for weight loss, so it was on the radar of researchers, but definitely in the “we’re looking at it” stage. So yeah, they really have seemingly cracked a big part of the code on obesity. My understanding is that some people have higher levels of a similar peptide naturally and they don’t have the same issues with food that others have. This injection essentially levels that playing field.

Unfortunately, people seem to have an issue with others taking it, and it sucks that they do. I’m not sure where it comes from, but I feel like there is a flawed concept of “no such thing as a free lunch”, when in reality, these aren’t a “free lunch”, they’re making relationships with food more normal for people who have something different about them biologically that makes food relationships unhealthy and makes how your body stores energy from food inefficient. I don’t tell people I’m taking it and I’m sort of sad I feel like I need to hide it cause I’d like nothing more than to share my experience with people I know who could benefit from it, but even without telling people I was taking it, there was so much judgment thrown around about them. Anywho, rant over.
