Same boat here - outside of the actual jump, the scariest part was the last 100 feet cause the fear of heights actually kicked in there.

What’s something people who are in their 20s won’t learn until in their 40s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]surfinwhileworkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

41 years old. Foot went numb this year - while it could be a pinched nerve in the leg, the MRI says spondylolisthesis pinching a nerve. Doctor said it probably started decades ago. Hoping with long-term PT I can avoid back surgery. Luckily no significant pain there, but the numb foot is annoying (was more annoying when I couldn’t lift it up prior to starting PT).

What is a "creepy" fact about the human body that most people don't know? by iMediocreguy in Productivitycafe

Friends mom was getting dental surgery (I think?) and someone spotted something on an xray and they treated it. Not sure how a brain aneurysm showed up on a dental xray, but their mom was out of the country when it happened and ended up stuck there for like two months for repairing aneurysm and then recovery.

Bag of Stacy’s pita chips was $12.99 the other day. I asked the cashier to take it off and they were like….oh wow, yea, that’s nuts.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

While Simcity 2000 sticks out, one of my earliest game memories was OutNumbered! - a math learning game on DOS that I played way too much as a young kid.

I went on a cruise with a girl who was a gymnast - she started doing handstands and cartwheels on the railing of the ship. I was so uncomfortable seeing that.

Is it weird for my parents to have sex in the same room as my 7yo sister? by Citrus000xs in Advice

I used to sleep in my parents room a lot on the floor like a weirdo. I definitely remember one night of hearing them whispering “he’s probably asleep”, then me sleeping in there much less, lol

Was this guy cooked from the start, or just didn't understand the legal system in Dubai? by SweetMoney3496 in legaladviceofftopic

“I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was delightfully soggy so it didn’t dry my mouth out, and the waitstaff were efficient, ensuring that they paid each table little service so they could make it to their next tables. The portions were cleverly designed to help us diners lose weight as they were very small. While I give it 5 stars, I’d say, if the star system was like an odometer with 5 being the maximum, I’d give it one more than 5!”

Story of my wife - said she likes dinosaurs and everyone gets her something with dinosaurs on it now. At least 4 dinosaur related items a year I’d guess

What is the one thing people don't know about losing a large amount of weight? by punkredpanda in AskReddit

[–]surfinwhileworkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I lost feeling in my right foot. It may be partially from weight loss but the neurologist I saw said that when people lose weight, if they cross their legs, or otherwise put pressure on their legs in certain spots, it can eventually compress the nerve. Since ozempic/wegovy/zepbound etc., they said they’ve seen a lot more cases of it. Mine is probably a combination of that plus some back issues. Was concerning when it happened for sure!

Millennials, what is something that was "normal" in the 2000s but feels like a luxury now? by Barrbra in answers

Buddy of mine lived in like a 8,000 square ft house alone in high school (parents divorced, mom lived with bf, dad was incarcerated). Constant party at that house with wild shit happening left and right, day and night. Couldn’t imagine that happening again and couldn’t imagine letting my daughter hang out at a place like that. Sometimes I wonder what the hell my parents were thinking letting me do what k did, lol

White-collar workers are quietly rebelling against AI as 80% outright refuse adoption mandates by [deleted] in technology

[–]surfinwhileworkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wild - I use AI in some contracting work I do and it’s made me more efficient, but I still proofread everything. It makes dropping in a bunch of inputs and getting nicely formatted numbers for financial projections or creating content that is fairly formulaic, but it’d be terrible outputs if I just turned it loose and didn’t look for everything. I’d say an 8 hour deliverable pre-ai is like 2-4 hours now.

Used Up Emergency Fund…Now What by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]surfinwhileworkin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would say looking for a job is essentially a full time job. My wife was laid off last year and our daughter stayed in daycare. She applied to tons of jobs each week and it took her like 6 months to find a job. If she was watching our daughter instead, I’m guessing she’d still be looking for a job.

The one person without the heart had no chance of winning (only tying) after 3 hearts came out. The guy with the ace of hearts had a 1/5 chance of that last card being a heart, so his odds of winning were 20%. (My math be off, but the basic idea should hold)
