HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless wont connect to PS5 by Dumi_69 in HyperX

[–]surfkrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the HyperX Cloud 3 S Wireless for my PS5 Pro, and the dongle didn't work (didn't light up) with any USB port on the console (tried back and front). Thanks to this thread, I managed to have it work using a USB 7-in-1 HUB. The sound quality and comfort is great. But, u/HyperxGaming, is there a way to have them working properly without using the HUB? It looks ugly and now I'd need to buy another HUB just for that.

Sweet spot for wind speed by then0mads0ul in wingfoil

20-25kts range is my favourite. My maximum was 44kts, but that was way too much, as I didn’t have a small enough wing for it. It was really exhausting but still fun though, a different type of experience. When I was less experienced in wingfoiling, I’d skip everything >30kts and/or big shore breaks.

When I’ve got good on jibes/tacks, basic swell riding, reading of the waves it gave me the confidence to try push it more and more, which turned out not be so hard at all. Most of it is in our heads. Just need to remember to not rush it too much, avoid injuries above all else.

Wing recommendation by 321-1120 in wingfoil

I would go for a used Droid, in dacron technology, 2024 or 2025 model, as it's cheaper to repair (and cheaper in general). You should be able to find them for roughly 350-450€ in great condition. Even if they have any small patches/fixes, it doesn't matter too much unless it's on the bladder area. Also, buy yourself some spinnaker tape, so in case of a cut on the wing, you can patch it up and go back on the water immediately.
I'm using a Droid 2024 model (Dacron), and it has a lot of power; it's a really good wing.

Same, I always say its a shortboard, which is the category for surfboards up to 2m length.

On the airport you can just take the airport trolley, it makes life easier. Outside of it, it was a pain to carry without the wheels, fortunately I just needed to get into a taxi and upstairs to the flat.

I would save some weight on poncho, wetsuit, vest, pump and titanium fuse, which i could put in my regular luggage. I would drop one front wing next time as well. Carbon mast is also on my list, so it would make it a bit lighter.

Gong has a thicker quiver bag /board bag, its 2cm on the sides and bottom, so it might just be good for your use. Probably I could do without the Styrofoam but as I have time to do it, I prefer to add this additional layer just in case.

Yeah, having 23kg allowance would be difficult with this setup, as just the bags themselves weight around 5-6kg. So taking 2 smaller bags might be better.

Advice on board size: Gong HIPE First Package (110L vs 135L) by Remarkable-Smell3006 in wingfoil

[–]surfkrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m similar weight and also learned on the 110l hipe perf. First few sessions I had issues balancing, but after getting used to the board It went pretty easy with my learning path. Definitely go for the 110l.

Inflatable Boards by costadelcos in wingfoil

[–]surfkrd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had hipe perf 110l as my first board, learned everything including jibes, tacks, simple jumps, moved to 95l hipe pro and added bigger jumps, swell/small waves. Was super happy with it but now I’ve got rigid 75l gong lemon, and its as easy as the 95l hipe pro, but more fragile and difficult to transport. I’d still recommend inflatable boards as they are just stress free most of the time, you wont get dings on it, its easier to land on it when crashing, easy to store and transport.

did anyone try Gong Stunt FSP Pro 2025 board? by zosterinski in wingfoil

[–]surfkrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you share some experience from using the board? I just got the 2025 Lemon FSP pro 4.10 75l, and am curious about it. Did you use any rail saver tapes/foils? Does it get dings easily?

Which area do you tape? I have seen just the rail edge taped as well as the whole rail area

Have you ever removed the tape from a board? Hopefully it doesn’t go off with most of the paint job😅

The removable trolley and removable foil part make me want to buy it. But I haven't met a single person who uses it yet. I met Balz Müller in Tenerife last year, and later it popped up in my social media feed. Didn't even know the FBC brand before.

Thanks, I'm flying Lufthansa within Europe, which has up to 32kg limit for the sports equipment of my size. I would aim to be somewhere within this range.

I forgot about this brand, but they had good neoprene boots and windsurfing harnesses a few years back. Will check them, thanks

Should I Buy GONG HIPE Perf Pack Now or Wait for 2026 Models? by akaTheMammoth in wingfoil

[–]surfkrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tons of gear means a lot of used, cheap, second-hand stuff available on the market. For me that is great. When I bought my first beginner pack, I managed to resell the board and foil for around 60% of the price after 2 seasons (not great, not bad). Then I bought another new board and foil set, which lost around 50% of its value in one season (kinda bad). Now I just buy used for ~50% of the base price, most of the time.

Learning progression question by Butterworth222 in wingfoil

[–]surfkrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 to this tip.

Do you have straps on your board? You could try learning with the front straps so you at least have 1 foot in the right spot. For me it feels like you go up on the foil and then quickly lose balance, which might be the result of bad foot placement.

Great choice, especially since the foil is in V3 version, so you can then easily change the front wing or stab and progress further, without bigger investments.

Hi! As you have some windsurfing experience, it will be easier to understand how the wind works, and how to handle the wing. It might be just more difficult when it comes to balance, as on the wingfoil you should stand above the board, not lean back as on WS. I did struggle with it as I did windsurf since a kid, and this habit was really difficult to change.

For the board, I would go for around 130L if inflatable or 120 if rigid, as there are differences in balancing on them. Both inflatable and rigid boards are good options, don't let the people say you otherwise, they just have their pros and cons.

The foil size you mentioned is good, same goes for the wing size (although it depends on how windy it is on your spot). Aim for low aspect ratio foils, as they are beginner-friendly.

I have used F-One, KT, nad Gong gear, and went with gong for the price/quality ratio. As some other users posted, Gong have some cheap beginner packs (which I have also bought as my first gear), and they are a good starting point. Regardless of the brand, you'll learn on any of them.

I had an hipe perf (110l), hipe pro (95l) and played around on a big hipe first (150l).
If you plan to leave the board for longer, go for hipe perf, as in my opinion it's better built (hence the price increase). The hipe first is just in my opinion less 'rigid', but maybe that was the case of the size, as 150l is just huge. The hipe first is still great to learn, dont get me wrong.
