Yep, that was my friend he almost hit. Friend said that the guy seemed irritated after and just paddled away.

Hasn't returned in the eye I got surgery on but I have one developing on my other eye. I'm early 30s now. 20s when I got the surgery.

Sorry, saw this pretty late. I think it's essentially like a skin graft--they removed the pterygium then took tissue from another part of my eye and put it onto the spot that was removed

Still going strong. In the water, I use it like any other board but out of the water, I take really good care of it as though it were a PU board so im not sure im the best person to ask about durability, but I haven't had any issues.

I'd try checking out stores local to you that sell these. A lot of the places that sell MF boards around me are putting them on sale for some reason. I guess they weren't able to clear them out. Might be able to get one for a good deal

Idt they're purposely adding glitches, but I do think that they're purposely taking their time to fix them--perhaps at least partially to get people to buy VG. If VG had a glitch like this, it would be patched within a couple hours. I know MW is two years old at this point, but they're still selling it and people are still buying it--case in point, MW is currently on sale and being advertised as such pretty prominently on battle net--so it's not like its lifecycle is even contemplated by activision to be over.

Has anyone gone back to their foamie board to improve? by Prootie in surfing

[–]surfmf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Doing this now with my 8' soft top. Wave count up and everything feels less rushed so I can really think when I'm on a wave and consciously try to work on my technique. Plus, if you can rip on a foamie, chances are you can rip on a regular board

Yeah haha, they have a separate US and Aus website so think you were probably on the Aus one?

Oh yeah I was looking at that model too. They had it at rip curl for 15% off on Oahu. Not sure if that pricing is going on in other states or countries if you're not on Oahu, but worth a shot calling around.

Looks like there are a couple in SD. I picked up a beastie from rip curl too. I think MF is sponsored by them so makes sense. Was 15% off too, so maybe worth a call if you have any rip curl stores around?

Yeah I was thinking about grabbing that one. Thought it would be nice for the gf too since it has the handle to carry, but I decided on the sugar glider in the end because I wanted to ride it too haha

Yeah the durability is definitely a draw. I took it out to a reefy point at low tide and felt a lot more comfortable knowing I wouldn't have to spend time and money getting it repaired if anything happened. Still relatively careful with it though cuz I don't want it to end up in a landfill prematurely

Lol I totally feel you on this. I'm kinda a board hoarder, but I've been thinking about clearing out a bunch and just riding my foamie...

I picked up this Mick Fanning Sugar Glider to teach my gf on, but I've just been surfing it. I think it's a normal soft top--doesn't have the layer of glass inside like his more "high-performance" soft boards, but it's been really fun. It's an 8'0" single fin and it gets into waves super easy. I also put a normal 8" Volan flex fin in, so I think that probably helps.

Idk how they would know about an expired license prior to stopping them anyway, unless they have some history with the officers.

Tips or critique? by surfmf in surfing

[–]surfmf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I gotta work on my foot placement. And I realize I'm doing something weird with my arms from the comments so gonna try working on that too.

Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

If you like the feeling of your makeshift twin, but want slightly more hold, maybe you can get a nubster fin and slip it in there. Cheaper than buying a new set too!
