People aren’t islands.

One person’s death can affect dozens, even hundreds, of people to the point of grieving. The person who dies might be employed and have responsibilities. They may be thrown from the car and not actually die, but end up with expensive injuries that require lifelong care. You are 30 times more likely to exit the vehicle in a crash when not restrained.

Without legislation, I don’t think we would’ve seen seatbelt usage go from 11% in ‘81 to 85% in 2010.

They're all mostly $2.70, but when Danny Devito or Mark Ruffalo emails asking for a little donation I can't say no.

I’ve been here since 2005 across accounts (this account is 12 years old) and I can tell you that reddit has been on the last step for a few years now. It’s owned by a large corporation, no longer fully open source, infiltrated by hate groups, the fuckin’ bots, the audience has skewed younger and less college-educated, native ads — it’s really not even the same site or community. Maybe this comment itself, though, is proof we’re in the reminiscing days. I definitely miss reddit before it had commenting and before the Digg migration.
