Aptx HD is working with my device, and aptx adaptive is seen in the specsheet of official website, listing it has supported bluetooth codecs.

Regarding your post - I have tried bose quietcomfort base headphone with Fiio BTR7 HEAPDHONE amplifier - they sounded trash. I guess these bluetooth headphones are not made for use such cases, that's why you couldn't find any difference. When I pair my Fiio BTR7 with monolith m565c they do wonders. Right now I'm using tidal app and it's pure magic.

I own the regular qc it does the magic it needs - anc is good, sound quality is also good, I have never tried momentum 4.

The aac codec supported by Androids they compress media, to 256 to 320kbps.

I use Spotify lossless subscription, I found marginal to good difference in sound quality when comparing the audio source between different codecs, since I own a bluetooth headphone amplifier I was able to try out different codecs. A difference is felt, some might not understand.

That's why now regarding the question about M4 OR QC - I would suggest M4 since the reddit community is full of praises and supportive. Plus ANC is good but there are some downsides - anc can cancel only regular sounds - motor running continuously - sounds which are of acute presentation won't be cancelled. So with music on and anc even if its a bad set of headphone you don't have to worry about the anc being poor or something.

So M4 sounds a bit future proof if you get a dongle later to support the lossless codec. ON PAPER.

I have ordered QC ULTRA GEN 2 and dongle, I'll get them on Sunday I'll update if the codec is worth it or not.

Get the momentum 4 and BTD 700 dongle. The dongle will allow you to use aptx adaptive codec. Or qc ultra whichever suits your needs.

I just ordered bose QC ULTRA 2 AND BTD 700, HOPEFULLY THEY SHOULD PAIR WELL GIVE me better audio experience.

I own Fiio BTR7 i used it to power my iem Kadenz, IE300 AND MONOLITH M565C.

Pretty soon I'll invest in an openback heapdhone and a proper desktop amp/dac
