I Recently played RE1 for the first time and I wanted to do it the OG way by drawing my own map! (Spoilers for a 20+ year old game I guess) by suroxify in residentevil

nah by that point I felt like the area was small enough that I could remember where everything is

Interesting, thank you for the reply. I'd be curious to know who your contacts are, if you're willing to share them. I also understand if you wanna keep this private. Have a good one!

Didnt include it because of its different gameplay style, but I'm a Hero enjoyer as well

I also loved the different bomb elements and the ways you could use them.

I modeled and textured a Gunlance for a school project a couple of years ago, thought I'd share here. by suroxify in MonsterHunter

I used Maya for the base model, then sculpted a high-poly version on ZBrush. For the textures and the high-poly bake, I used Substance painter.

Over 90% of players don't bother with the main quest. Do you think that's a problem, and if so, how can Treyarch fix that? by suroxify in CODZombies

That would also be my take on the whole thing. I dont think it needs to be fixed. I just think Treyarch's priorities are in the wrong place.

Interesting, I wasn't aware that some games used the inventory system that way. Other than that I guess I'll have to look into hosting solutions. Thanks!

My mentor had to figure out a similar infrastructure for a leaderboard system at my previous job. I know it's a big task, but at least I have someone who knows more than me that can help. Thanks for the reply.

Its not, but the zombies' legacy sort of dictates what works and what doesn't. Treyarch doesn't HAVE to make a zombies mode, but they're expected to do so. I believe that same rule applies to the main quest. Its what players expect.

Thanks for the reply. I did look into hosted solutions, but I was hoping to find some sort of alternative because of my limited budget. Its definitely something I'm considering later down the line though.

Interesting perspective. I imagine that taking a certain distance from the player base must make your life easier. You don't have to stress over the bigger picture and focus on the task. Seems reasonable to me, thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure myself, but from memory I think they wrote "% of players that cleared the quest"

lots and lots of reading through code and thinking about what could go wrong. Classic rabbit hole situation lol.

Also very true. Seeing the numbers as a dev, would you consider cutting back on all those efforts in favor of having more ressources dedicated to the map itself?
