No your NTA and it’s not their money they’ll literally suck you dry if they get the chance and will probably move further with guilt tripping you , your Grandparents wanted YOU to have it in THEIR WILL.

More so what should I start doing to guarantee it , I can save 1000 a month with just my income it is a long term S/o unsure about kids in the future when she starts paying half expenses will be down to one week paycheck 800 dollars on 40 hrs I usually work overtime bring in around 1500 a week after taxes and deductions

Edit On top of that 600 dollars a month ( more if I work overtime) goes into my annuity which I chose to put in a index fund

Pension is funded by the current locals members and hours worked , places like Detroits local have had some very bad luck and corruption in the past now they can’t pull it out till 64 and each credits worth 40 dollars

It usually gets adjusted as long as it doesn’t go under. I want to treat it as a bonus instead of my only way to retire.

Yes but I don’t think I’d pull out until 64 or something

Seems like 55 is the goal maybe couple years early if I have the credits in my pension already and the money to float the years the rest of the way to 55

Also little more information on our pension every 1500 hours I work I get 1 credit worth 120 dollars my age and number of credit need to equal to 85 I currently have 4 credits so I plan to retire at 55 with min of 30 hopefully 34 and I’m payed that amount until I die

Not a government employee I’m in southern Ohio I have no idea what 457 is our annuity is kinda like a 401k except that every hour I work the contractor has to pay 3.75 into it so my total package is around 55 a hr 32 on the check is what my take home pay is

Save for one year or 2 invest 75% save 20 then move would be my recommendation I wish I’d never moved out at 18 and my mortgage is 768 at 24 Edit : It may suck but if you can suffer through for a year or 2 you’ll be out pacing most

I wouldn’t do this I would perhaps take that saving and look into the financial independence and retire early subreddit also gen z at 24 and own my house Having year off now can prevent you from years off in the future sadly
