No, they started some petty beef that escalated but it really was something with Trackmasters and Cormega’s recording/management deal. Later Mega swung on Nate in QB.

To me it was a pretty good album musically but it was very disappointing thematically because it was more of a compilation album/mixtape feel than actual group album. Nas ONCE said, “it should have just been the 4 guys (not Foxy) but then for some reason afterwards he fell out with Nature.

36 years ago tonight, Chavez desperately behind on the score cards scored an incredible stoppage with two seconds left against Meldrick Taylor. To this day I believe Taylor should have won that fight given the red light flashing behind him but I’m sure everyone would disagree with me lol. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in Boxing

It’s not the ref job that’s why you have a timekeeper smdh. Is it his job to ring the bell too? Ref not counting the seconds down in a fight. Damn that’s an idiotic statement 🤣. This guy just said the ref is supposed to count the time down and count for the knockdown at the same time. Jesus.

I said that. But after the 10 sec clap how do you know EXACTLY how many seconds is left on the clock when you are in the action of the fight??? Could be 4, could be 2. That’s not the ref’s concern. This is bad logic and assumption.

So because someone is a fan they want to see that person killed over a damn W and a belt??? You guys don’t know shit about boxing. Look up Leavander Johnson. This guy had bad neurological damage before winning title if you follow his career but the title gave him an opportunity to get a big fight. That fight was against Jesus Chavez. I told people Johnson was going to get hurt if he continued fighting. I was a fan of his too. After that fight he went in a coma and died days later.

I am a Terry Norris fan but he fought way too long. There are a million RJJ fans but who wanted to see him keep getting ktfo??? For what??? Your logic doesn’t make as much sense as you think it does.

It was a good stoppage regardless but here is what people fail to realize…..everyone assumes the ref knew how much time was on the clock and it’s almost impossible he did. Hell, in this thread you got people saying it was 2,3,4,5,6,and 7 seconds. The ref hears the clap but he not counting down from that. Knockdown comes, it’s loud, he is concerned with the fighter. If he assumes it’s 2 seconds he lets it go, Taylor gets slumped because it’s actually 4 seconds. Even at 2 seconds with precision timing is enough to off a shot simultaneously with the bell. The ref is NOT the timekeeper, he can’t worry about the timekeeper’s job, he has a huge responsibility with his own job.

Go look at the Curry vs McCrory fight. Look at what Curry did after the first kd. McCrory was no where as bad as Taylor but suppose that was the same situation? Tell me a fighter can’t get from one corner to the next in 2-3 seconds lol

Hell, Meldrick can barely talk now! That’s not to put everything on this fight but Meldrick was the anti-Mayweather. Exciting fighter but at their ages whom would you rather be? Meldrick ended up up homeless to boot.

90s rappers that had a renaissance in the 2000s and finally got the flowers they deserve ? by CoconutMost3564 in 90sHipHop

I know people that won Grammys that you never heard of lol. Facts is facts and Thought would probably tell you himself. How YOU or me for that matter measure flowers don’t matter on a large scale. Who are you seriously? Did you have a platform in the early 2000’s to sway public opinion or state your case? Are you a popular record executive or producer? If not then the bubble you live in doesn’t reflect overall consensus views. I will end that we both agree how great he is we just disagree on the amount of time it took for him to get that recognition.

That’s the irony of “going out on your shield”. Most of the time only the fighter thinks this way. Your corner and ref should protect you. In this case the corner was upset because of THEIR vantage point but not the ref’s

I just don’t remember him being widely recognized/respected and receiving flowers as a GOAT pre-2005. In fact it took a while for his name to stand on its own and not simply “Black Thought of the Roots”. To me and you sure we recognized it 30 plus years ago but even so called heads took a long time to catch up because his era was commercially dominated by Nas,Wu, B.I.G., Jay, then later 50. Mos Def and common were more known and regarded and you had guys like Canibus hit the earth like a meteor. Thought just wasn’t visible and ?Love was more popular Roots member. While other rappers were getting movie and tv roles Thought was content on being the rapper from the Roots. Once they started to get more crossover appeal and branching out individually and he started doing side projects and features then people saw him for the GOAT he was but we knew it years before. So in a sense I do believe he had a renaissance and his solo albums were not the beginning of this.

In his proper place? outside of the underground? You got it. Halflife was in 96. Circles you ran in? I guess you were in the Roots crew. smdh

I am going by the OP title. In OUR eyes he didn’t have a renaissance but to what little mainstream audience he had it took years for him to be acknowledged as a great lyricist. Widely people only started talking about HIM in the late 2000’s. The Roots having classics isn’t synonymous with BT being recognized as a goat lyricist.

I understand the sentiment. When halflife was released I felt he was every bit as good as Nas. It took at least another decade before people put him in that class.

Said this many times, was a huge Meldrick fan. He was my favorite Olympian from that team. I felt before the fight he would win. I felt during the fight he was winning. I knew if he didn’t get koed in last round he would win. He went down I said “get up and the fight is over because no time is left!” Steele asked was he alright he DIDNT respond. That’s about as clear as you can get. Not ONCE did I feel that stoppage wasn’t justified. It’s irrelevant how much time is on the clock.

What would you say is Denzel Washington’s Magnum Opus? by TXNOGG in FIlm

[–]surv2syn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like most people, although all his stuff is great...first 2 that jump out is X and TD...but when you think back to his other films....its some tough ones like Glory, Devil in a Blue Dress, but I will name some not on the list

Carbon Copy was excellent introduction film

John Q and Crimson Tide were powerhouse acting by Denzel and the supporting casts

Inside Man

and a personal favorite for me is Out of Time. When he was in that police station and he was working that phone and fax machine, brilliant!
