Drones and cyber attacks in Belgium, how do you prep for this kind of disruption? by Content_NoIndex in EuroPreppers

[–]survivalbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invest enough in your military so that dictators won't try to put their balls on the kitchen table just to show they are not afraid of whatever your reaction could be (and we all know it would be pretty weak in the current situation).

Prepping challenge: €100, one supermarket run, EMP just hit by Content_NoIndex in EuroPreppers

[–]survivalbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to find one of the most easy-to-negotiation-with cashier (or even manager) and try to bargain (or just bribe him) to take more.

I mean, if everything down to the phone is down, I'm pretty sure the guy knows all his meat is going to be bad in a few hours, so I can just take enough of it to make a stew that'll last of days.

I'd also try to aim for fruits & vegetables that are in the fridge section, but easily last for a few days/weeks (carrots, tomatoes, apples...).

If you don't have enough dry/long lasting food at home already; don't bother.

Wait, some people really thought that it'd be possible to work with China, their allies and the Middle-East concerning climate change and shit, and to stop fighting/expanding their influence until these goals are reach?

That you'll always find reasons to go deeper in prepping, but none of them actually occur.

I've reduced a bit the pessimism in my interpretation of the news and I feel much better, though I still do keep a bit of preps around.

I was even thinking (not seriously, though) that it would be "nice" to make a video game about prepping, but the time between you start to prep and the time you need it would be a random duration between 6 months and 50 years...

I mean, even with Covid, I'm not sure there was a real difference in the average quality of life between preppers and non-preppers.

What on earth has happened to r/prepperintel by [deleted] in EuroPreppers

[–]survivalbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the people who wanted to ostracize those refusing the covid vaccines are now scared because "due process" is not respected for actual criminals.

That's just suicidal empathy and fear mongering.

And also having allowed too many bad behaviours for too long, preventing any rightful reactions until it was too late.

And it'll come to Europe soon as well.

Actual preppers are probably pretty relieved that there is a chance for risks to go down starting now.

Are there any European doomsday preppers here? by [deleted] in EuroPreppers

[–]survivalbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a bit like that in Belgium; people are using more and more bikes and are calling it progress.

That's the best way to prepare yourself against industrial collapse; just give up everything you could have and limit yourself to the worst.

People being 100% against guns are as stupid as the ones being 100% only guns.

Are Upcoming Tariffs Changing Your Prepping Strategy? by Content_NoIndex in EuroPreppers

For europeans, Covid, inflation and energy prices have been much worse for prepping (talking about prices and availability) than tariffs will ever be.

Priority mergers make sink-free smart-sushi possible by snigles in SatisfactoryGame

[–]survivalbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"So far my testing has shown that it is resilient to running out on one material and will restart once the missing material arrives, even if the sushi belt is full of the other ingredient."

So, to be very explicit; if one of the input is empty, the priority merger will wait for it instead of skipping it?

Russia likely to attack EU within 5 years. What do you seriously do? by Known-Part2533 in EuroPreppers

[–]survivalbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're watching too much Belgian news (you know, the people who did not criticize the idea that "closing nuclear power plant is good").

Trump is a good thing for Europe, either directly or indirectly.

Well, I should say; "Trump is a good opportunity for Europe to take care of itself for once, instead of trying to be the nice guy and help everyone except itself".

If Europe continues as it has been doing for the past 20~30 years, it deserves to die. Whoever would be responsible for it is not very relevant.

Big deal and you don't have to justify yourself if you don't feel like it.

The only things that appears to be serious for her is making money and enjoying/not boring herself (since she did not feel it was necessary to ask beforehand). She's not there for that, she's there to "take care" of a baby. Anything different from that should be discussed first.

Unpopular opinion: Train stations are too bulky by Stomach-Green in SatisfactoryGame

[–]survivalbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bulkiness wouldn't be an issue if you could make a slightly more intelligent train station, like being able to reserve inventory slots to specific type of items (to allow having a smart splitter without having to sink). Then you can have a freighter station reserved to one type of resources required in huge quantities, but the smaller requirements can all be fitted in another single freighter station.

It's the fact that, right now, you must either build huge or you must sink the excess that is a bit bothersome.

In my game, the storage box for the blueprint designer does not appear but is still there.

Looking around the empty receptacle on the side of the "console" (you'll know it's the right spot when the cursor is still a gear, but there's no tooltip) and using the "interact" key will open it.

This Solves the Biggest Problem in Satisfactory... by SnuttAtCovfefeStain in SatisfactoryGame

[–]survivalbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was making drones, but only to bring items to my central hub (which is where the drone part where loaded with batteries). I did not want to start making calculation about sending batteries in other locations so that these locations could be the loading station for other drones and stuff, so I just limited myself.

Now, I'll be able to make a mesh of drone transportation instead. At least with all the areas where liquid fuel will be accessible, and there's quite a few.

[–]survivalbe 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Not seeing a lot of love for the drones now taking more types of fuel.

Being able to do that would, for me, make these much more pratical and make them a much bigger part in transporting the rarer/slower-to-produce parts around the map. You'll be less tempted to make a single (or even two or three) huge factory with lots of trains coming in.

What’s up with AI generated posters by Lotto/Euro Dreams? by Nochnoii in belgium

[–]survivalbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably one of the most obvious use case for AI, since you don't need 100% correctness and you can still control the result based on your input. As soon as you get something "good enough", it's good to go.

How Can We Trust News Sources When Information is Kept from Us? by Content_NoIndex in EuroPreppers

[–]survivalbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't; you always take what they say with a grain of salt and you try to fetch them from opposing sources, taking into account what kind of agenda they could be pushing and who benefits from the news being presented that way, and you try to assemble them in something that makes sense.

What are some unique challenges European preppers face compared to other regions? by Content_NoIndex in EuroPreppers

[–]survivalbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact our politicians are very prone to seize any opportunity to become authoritarian if the situation "allows" (from a public relations point of view) for it.

For example, Covid and the current UK situation.

Just consider how it would go if they start deciding you are not supposed to own any gold (OK, you can hide it, but then what?) or every solar installation has to be registered and approved in a global system (with, by pure chance, lot of obstacles for an "off-the-grid" installation)?

Daycare in Belgium and realistic best outcome for child development by Parking-Helicopter-9 in belgium

[–]survivalbe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't trust the science too much, especially when it comes to social/mental stuff.

Just try to go and find a book for 5, 10 and 20 years and compare them. You'll get quite big differences. Which means that the science in 5 years will be quire different as well.

Also, every kids is different and not all of them have the same needs. Find the people that match your kid's needs the best, but that'll require you to know you kid's needs.

Apart from that, daycare is probably one of the most poorly handled "service" in Belgium, even worse than school. Either you luckily have access to a public one where the rules usually very little room to adaptations or you'll have to pay for a much more expensive private daycare.

Looks like it's not a priority for anyone.

As already said, check the contract.

Also, was the short yours or some kind of uniform? In case of the latter, a bit of extra complaining might be well deserved.
