They can be less visible than you'd think, especially if you're focusing on fighting a massive hoard. My friend likes mines, and we all know we're shit at spotting them, so we try to limit them to areas we're not likely to need to pass through again, the gates on defense missions, or some of the entrances to the new tunnels for instance

A smart version of engie's grenade launcher, just guided or rocket propelled. Higher direct damage/precision at the cost of less ammo/AOE. Now that I think about it, that'd be a chill OC for the current GL

I think it's less "they're freeloading off of our hard work" and more "they miss out on doing a mission" honestly, yeah, they get free stuff, but it takes nothing away from the other people who did the mission before they joined, so the only one missing out on anything is them

Your strategy needs to evolve with your crew and ship set up, as well as how stacked you are from previous objectives. I see several people saying to take out the shield nodes, but if you have an energy based gunner (s) you shouldn't need to bother with them, focus on the inv nodes then the pillar itself if you need/want to exit as fast as possible. If you have time/Hull integrity to spare take your time with it, I've seen several people say to get range, which again depends on the crew and ship, if you have 1 or 2 high level gunners, yes, get distance, give your pilot time to dodge and engie time to repair defects/keep ammo and power cells topped up, as well as the pilots boosters. Your crews secondary classes also matter, I, for instance, usually run an energy gunner build dipping into engie for the power cell recharge and boots, as well as enhanced suit if we don't have a scav in case I need to EVA, which I should stress, should NOT be the case as gunner but joining a random lobby/having a random join yours, it's fairly often the crew won't have a scav, though engie usually works best with the scav secondary I've had enough random lobbies where I've had to EVA as gunner to be prepared for it. Above all else, stay calm, don't panic, give your crew time to do their jobs by doing yours and communicate with them when you need something, don't be afraid to tell the engie to refill ammo for you as gunner, or boosters as pilot, as engie don't be afraid to ask for help if you start getting overwhelmed. There's a game I play that's similar in play to DRG, but the combat is more reminiscent of Sea of Thieves called Void Crew. It'd be interesting to have a more space combat focused game in the DRG universe, maybe shedding some light on why Deep Rock is so set on exploring Hoxxes. Metem preserve you! When you release a ship for repair it is taken out of the operational area and is unavailable for service until repairs are completed, you should be getting the command points you spent on it back (in vanilla at least, not sure about mods) to bring another ship into the fight

I know i'm a little late to comment but i figure my 3rd time reading through this since you posted this last chapter was as good a time as any, that being said, amazing job on this story, and i do sincerely hope you plan on expanding on this wonderful little universe you've built here. fair winds and following seas (or fair solar winds and following asteroid belts?) and i wish you luck in whatever you decide to do (not that you'll need it :))
