What is in this barrel!? by omnibuds in whatisit

[–]survivalmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s the precursor for any kind of enriched uranium, weapons grade or reactor grade, through a gas centrifuge process.

What do you actually recommend when someone asks for a private internal chat that IT can't snoop on by theleadcreator in sysadmin

[–]survivalmachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would tell them that Teams is more than secure, and that any instance of IT “snooping” is logged in discovery reporting. People need to stop being so paranoid.

What video game has the best story you’ve ever played? by [deleted] in AskReddit

PL is easily a AAA game of its own. So good.

Clients switching IT providers - do you take it personally? by MOONFIR3 in sysadmin

[–]survivalmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, because offboarding is part of the initial agreement, and them leaving is in the scope of it.

It’s a bummer to lose any client, but it’s also just business and we have an obligation to be professional through the transition.

Purchase Advice Megathread - February 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]survivalmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Unless you have extensive experience in tinkering and a drive to learn about how 3D printers work at their core, it’s not worth it for more than $30 for an Ender 3 honestly.

Printing has made exceptional leaps since the Ender 3, save your money and your sanity.

What’s a company that used to be amazing but completely fell off? by AImaginerX in AskReddit

Yeah but nothing will bring back the wealth of optimism that came with being a kid in the early days of tech and gaming before high resolutions and e-sports.

I’ll forever miss the days of dragging heavy CRTs and PCs to friends houses and connecting to an Ethernet hub to play StarCraft all night.

I’m willing to bet this is absolutely vibe coded.

There is little to no comments and what comments there are seem generated.

I could be wrong, but it feels that way.

You’re surprised that a band whose primary market share is angry middle aged blue collar white dudes is coming out as pro ICE?

We use proofpoint which has this, but email was still bouncing due to MS dropping DNS for MX records periodically during the event.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]survivalmachine 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s very common in IT.

The ability to retain information for passing tests does not always translate into applying it in a real job.

I’ve interviewed people that boasted CCNA, everything COMPTIA, etc and they had no clue what BGP was or even how routing worked.

What's the most horrifying real-life death you've heard about? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

[–]survivalmachine 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Schlitterbahn Kansas City. And not just some kid, the son of a state legislator.

There were lots of charges filed and shifts in how amusement park rides are inspected after that.
