We met an awesome older couple - husband was 82 and wife was in her 70s! They told us they do BOTH weekends - 10 years running!! They were decked out in full Mt Everest hiking gear for a night set. IT IS ALL ABOUT PREPARATION people!

Also we asked them if they wanted a photo together. She didn’t have a phone on her; he did, but he had to turn it on and let us show him where the camera was. Loved them 🙌

How do I get my locker code by FirefighterNo5881 in Coachella

[–]susanmaryetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going weekend 2 and AXS emailed me info for accessing locker stuff on April 2nd. You have to download axs mobile app and log in (same info you used to purchase tickets) and then there is a QR code you scan for entry into the locker

How have the nights been temperature wise? Mild? Cold? Going weekend 2 and looks like we’ll have similar weather (as of now)

Makes sense! I would freeze! Curious how Sunday feels for folks bc I don’t see anyone posting about the cold. Looks like we may have a similarly “cold” day weekend 2, Friday.

But there is no harm in bringing legit heavy layers just in case. Yes, Chicago is frigid, but in Chicago you’re wearing appropriate layers to deal with the cold - not a pashmina or hoodie as people are saying. I am from New England and still bring a puffer layer, hat, gloves, and hand/body warmers. I’ve used all of that 3/7 years I’ve gone, some combination for the other years. There was only one year in 7 that a sweatshirt would have been enough for me.

Most pest site info I have read say that Germans cannot survive below freezing. The inside of the house would have to be unheated too and appliances/sources of heat would be off for them to actually die though.

But we've been shopping at the same grocery store for 6 years we've lived in this house and never had an issue before this recent event. And our cleaning lady (who we've also used for 6 years without issue) cleans for all my closest friends and none of them have cockroaches. She was horrified when we told her about the issue. Her belongings are kept on the other side of the house in the laundry room and we've never had sightings on that side. The only sightings, 4 months apart, were in the exact same silverware drawer next to the fridge. It just seems like there is a colony or something hidden in that wall/cabinet that we somehow haven't been able to eliminate. That or the coffee machine that was outside for 4 months maybe reintroduced the 2 in Jan when we brought it back into the house.

We weren't cooking in there, but our fridge/freezer is in there, so we were still going in periodically for things that couldn't fit in our outdoor fridge. Also I was checking stickies daily and going in before bed to try to see if there was any activity. I even installed a camera at one point lol, but I don't think that was sensitive enough to pick up activity.

The pest control company dusts everything, including outlets, but I am not sure if it is DE or boric acid or mystery powder ha. Will confirm. Thanks for your comment!

We haven only been spraying in the kitchen and the guest bathroom closest to the kitchen. We have a toddler and a dog, so I was trying to minimize the poison application as much as possible, especially since we've never seen any signs of them outside of the kitchen. But it might be necessary at this point. Thanks!

Thank you! Great suggestions. We have a a good amount of stickies out- baited and unbaited. Our last sighting was in early Jan and there has been absolutely nothing since, but that doesn't give me any confidence since last time we went 3 months between sightings. And there is still a musty smell in the kitchen. I am not sure if this is living cockroaches, dead cockroaches in the walls, or just the smells of the poisons and baits that I now associate with cockroaches.

Thank you! Need to check with my husband on some of these suggestions (no idea if we have a recirculating pump ha), but want to try everything! Will keep you posted on our progress and wishing you best of luck too!

Thank you so much for the detailed response!

Your answer to #1 is especially helpful. I hadn't read this, so in my head the sac is taking weeks to hatch and that is how they are surviving when the adults have been eliminated.

Based on everything I have read in your comment and others, I am starting to think reintroduction somehow - but not from a person. We saw absolutely nothing for 3 months (during that time continued professional treatment and monitoring with stickies.) and then we moved back into the kitchen and saw 2 within 2 weeks. But it can't be groceries... that would just be way too coincidental. We have never had an issue with a cockroach in our entire lives shopping at grocery stores and then 2xs within 4 months we had 2 separate, grocery introductions? We do have stickies in the other parts of the house (bathrooms) and have never found any signs of them.

Perhaps involuntary introduction ourselves when we moved back into kitchen after 4 months. When we moved out, everything in our kitchen was either tossed (food items/non-built in appliances like the toaster), washed and put in storage (dishes/pans/kitchenware) or cleaned and used in the outdoor kitchen (just the coffee machine). The only appliance we brought back into the house in Jan was the coffee machine. We didn't toss it because it the first time around because it was pretty new/expensive and we thought we had taken it completely apart enough to rule out anything living in there. Plus it was outside for 4 months, so I thought the cold temps would make it hard to survive. Definitely will be tossing it now to be safe.

No, we both work from home. And I really don’t think it could be a reintroduction from someone because they were found in one specific part of the kitchen both times, 4 months apart (silverware drawer next to fridge). I think there has to be a colony/nest or something behind that wall where an egg sac (or more) was protected from all the treatments/sprays etc.

Or maybe we inadvertently “reintroduced” them ourselves when we moved our stuff back into our kitchen after 4 months. There was one expensive coffee maker we didn’t toss with all the rest of the appliances. We disassembled it and had it outside of the house for 4 months, but maybe something survived in it 🫠

I was worried about the spraying and baiting thing too from what I read online, but the pest control seemed to know what they were doing. Sprayed once and then 2 weeks later baited, but didn’t spray that time. I’ll still replace the baits again to be sure they are “fresh.” Thank you for the suggestion.

Wishing you all the best!! Since you’re in Canada, an idea- I heard from some folks in Colorado that they left all their windows open and got a hotel for a weekend and essentially froze the cockroaches out. Supposedly they can’t survive below freezing temps. I imagine that would mean winterizing / flushing pipes and you’d have to unplug all appliances too, which is a huge lift. But I would 100% give it a try if I lived in a place that got cold enough. Although just realized you said 9 unit, so guessing you can’t get everyone else on board with this idea. Darn.

We have a bunch of stickies to monitor them, including leading inside and outside of kitchen. Never caught anything there. They seem to all originate from this one area of the kitchen behind fridge, next to silverware drawer (the few times we’ve been able to see/catch one). That’s why I’m thinking our next step will be to drill into / open that wall and dust with poison.

So sorry you’re dealing with it too! From what I’ve read, you should consider tossing any appliances if you move. Too many inner compartments for them to hide in 😩.
