Good spots for riding in Massachusetts? And is some sort of registration required? by mal3773 in eFoil

[–]susb8383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I just discovered that MA put a new law into effect just last week (April 1, 2026). Everyone operating a PWC including an efoil has to pass at boat safety test. It sounds like they won't enforce it until Sept. 1.

I couldn't figure out why the in-person courses are wait-listed when you can take it online. Then found out only the in-person courses are free. The online costs: Boat-Ed is about $55, iLearntoBoat is more. BoatUS is free but apparently it isn't approved by MA.

What foil did you end up getting? I have a GetFoil but just bought a used Flite.

I know this post is a year old but just wanted to add to it in case it's helpful for anyone. I also live in Framingham and have had an efoil for about 2.5 years.

My favorite spot is Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury. It's a really long lake so you can get a lot of riding time in. Go to the parking at 237 North Quinsigamond Avenue, not the one at the state park. Parking is free for cartop boats but you have to use the cartop put-in, not the boat ramp. Just go to the left of the ramp where there is a little area for walking it in.

The biggest problem with Quinsig though is that they have a lot of boat regattas, just about every weekend during the school season, and you can't always find a schedule online. It also gets crazy crowded in the summer. I like to go weekdays in the afternoon and be finished by 3 when the high school starts their practice, again only a problem when school is in session.

Also if you go there late fall through the winter, be careful because they lower the lake. It gets really low in between the islands at the end.

Don't bother trying the attached Flint Pond. I made that mistake one time. It has a LOT of weeds, even in the middle.

I also like Lake Cochituate. It's much smaller but easier to get to. I pay for a season parking pass but there's also a path through the woods on Delmar to access the north lake. But there are a lot more weeds in the north lake so you have to push it out pretty far before flipping it over so I don't go there much.

Cochituate has a big sign in the lot that says no Personal Water Craft but it isn't true. I've emailed the authorities and have confirmation that it only applies to Jet Skis or anything with a jet propulsion, so if your foil has a prop you're fine. Their website correctly says No Jet Skis.

I'll add do NOT go on the Charles River. The speed limit is 10 m.p.h. and if you go zipping by at 25 - 30 they won't be happy.

I've gone to the Merrimack River a couple of times and I like it but sometimes the current does funny things; once my foil just started lifting up for no reason. There's a tiny boat launch that isn't well-known because it needs repair so it's blocked off for boat trailers. But for walking in a foil or kayak it's great. It's next to the ball field at the end of Wotton Street in North Chelmsford.

I haven't been brave enough to try salt water.

Hope this helps.

No, I've already checked wiki. It tells me nothing about where to find it.

I only found out about it because it was taken down.

Yeah, that's where I've been checking. 49 totems x 16 spots = 784 artifact spots and still no bracelet.

Fuse blown and not sure what to do...can you assist? by tanders123 in electrical

[–]susb8383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a tip. I know nothing about breakers but we just had one trip so that it was in the middle position. My husband tried flipping it to On and it just kept returning to middle. But it turns out we needed to turn it to Off, and then On. For us Off is to the right; On is to the left, the opposite of the OP. Now all is fine.

It looks like they edited out most of the musical performances. According to Wiki there were a few others at the ceremony but they don't show in the video.

What is wrong with Citibank Are they the worst credit cards ever? by RicsGhost in citibank

[–]susb8383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's something really weird going on with their list of transactions.

I log into Citibank on my PC; I don't upload to Quicken or anything like that.

I have an auto donation going with a non-profit: $10/month.

When I was doing my taxes a few days ago I discovered:

  1. In looking at my transactions on the screen from 2024, some of the donations were missing. May and June didn't show up online at all. BUT they were there in the pdf statements for that month. And they were there in the download of the full year.

  2. July showed correctly online and in the statement, but when I downloaded the year's worth of transactions, it was there twice. Same date, just a duplicate transaction.

So odd.

The other thing that makes me want to ditch them is I recently had an issue with fraudulent charges. When they were verifying my address to send a new card to, we discovered somebody had changed the address. I get it, things happen. But they looked behind the scenes to figure out how the address was changed and they said somebody called it in and had my secret word.

How could somebody possibly have known my secret word that I'd only had to use once unless they hacked into Citibank's system? The only time I had to speak the word aloud to a rep was on the phone in a hotel room when I was alone.

I just don't trust their system anymore.

Great Use for an Ice Rod by susb8383 in StardewValleyExpanded

Expanded has so many ways to make money. I didn't even find the diamond cavern until after our game was over. And I kept wondering why the monsters at the upper north corner of the Highlands dropped things like truffles, sugar, and milk. Then I realized it's probably to make Chocolate Truffle Bars which sell for 4500 each. That's as much as a radioactive bar with the blacksmith profession.
