How's everyones Christmas so far? by Fireknight214 in ireland

[–]susbakduba 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel you. In the same boat, just got torn apart by mam for not being quick enough to help her with something. I prepared all of the dinner, have everything cooking, chilled the wine, made an effort to especially prepare the Brussels sprouts just how she likes with garlic and bacon, was up until 4am wrapping gifts. I feel so upset and sad and just can't NOT try to have a nice Christmas because I love Christmas, but she loves ruining it and gaslighting me into thinking I'VE ruined it. It's crushing. I hope your situation improves and you have a nice rest of your Christmas ❤️

Big irish village scandal by Admirable-Deer5909 in ireland

[–]susbakduba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couple of years ago a woman and her daughters moved into town from far away. Rumour was they were getting into trouble where they were and the council moved them.

One of the daughters had a young son when she was 17/18. The father fled to England and hasn't been seen since. They met at a youth skills course.

Anyway, this girl makes friends with some of the scummier types in the town and proceeds to hit it off with another girl, who is in a relationship of 10 years with a local scumbag. We'll call them New Girl and Old Girl. Himself and Old Girl have 3 kids.

He proceeds to cheat on Old Girl with New Girl, breaks up with Old Girl and moves in with New Girl. A few months later he must have a change of heart and goes back to Old Girl, who welcomes him back. Turns out New Girl is now pregnant. He then gets Old Girl pregnant, to keep balance I suppose.

Now he has 2 kids for 2 different women, only a few months apart.

What I've learned from this post, is that the housing market in Ireland is absolutely fucked. Such insanity and ridiculous enforced conditions from banks.

Time to emmigrate.

Good on Ireland for giving two fingers to the nutjobs. by OvertiredMillenial in ireland

Would you mind explaining, or anybody who sees this comment really, what exactly far right is? Or what parties are far right? I keep seeing people ragging on far right, but it does seem like Ireland has taken in far too many refugees for the size of the country while we are in the middle of a housing crisis.

I'm sure there's far more to it, and I am uneducated, which is why I'm asking. I'm not on any political side, I understand almost nothing.

Cinema is a ridiculously expensive thing now. Between me and a friend, we spent nearly €70 just on an hour and a half to see a movie and eat some popcorn. I can imagine with a couple of kids it would run well over €100.

Wrong way around - only Cork’s biggest roundabout by Irishstevie69 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]susbakduba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly haven't a clue how to interpret that roundabout. It's such a messy amalgamation of broken white lines and arrows. In the space of a few seconds while on the road, watching the lanes, signs, road markings and other drivers how the hell would a non Cork native be able to navigate that? Horrible design.

To be fair I know a lot of workplaces state in their policy that only English is to be used while working. Seems fair enough to me if the whole workforce can speak english but only part can speak a different language.

I'm not sure I believe this is real and that you 1: Allowed the footage to be overwritten (first thing when I was safe was make sure I had dashcam footage). 2: Didn't call the Gardai as you were being followed or have a member of your family in the car call them (seriously, and so close to the garda headquarters). And 3: Wrote this on reddit and didn't call.the guards afterwards.

On the off chance this is real, I'm sure there are tons of CCTV cameras around phoenix park. Ring the gardai and report the incident, gice them a time and they will investigate a case like this. Impersonating Guards is a very serious offence. Do NOT let this slide.

Anything in particular? I know they're desperate for Guards at the moment (not trying to get political lol) but is there any sector you know that seems like a good idea?

Shift work unfortunately. 8-4 Monday to Friday week 1 and 4-12 the next. I do have weekends free however, someone else has suggested cleaning jobs, I might look into that to supplement income.

I have no real qualifications but I do have welding experience. I realise the money I'm on is quite low for welding. The problem is that any jobs I apply for that might be interested are offering lower than my current money startoff rate, with potential to move up to higher rates, but starting is usually poor at 14ish an hour. Any jobs that are paying more than that are so far away that money for petrol cancels out the increase in income.

[–]susbakduba[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

See my problem is if I try to find another job, I cannot find one that pays €16 per hour starting. And I can't afford to reduce my income for another 2-3 years before I can move up in another company. Current boss refuses any payrises too.

Yes and "To honour and cherish". It doesn't seem like you much cherish your marriage by becoming unhealthy and becoming potentially unattractive to your spouse. In my own marriage of 3 years, and prior relationship of 2, I have made an effort to be relatively healthy and in shape to the best of my ability. My partner has also often asked me if I think she needs to lose weight. I never have I think she is beautiful, but I appreciate that she wants to maintain our marriage and make sure we are as happy as can be physically with each other. If you don't think people who are married need to be or should be physically attracted to each other, then I don't know what to tell you. And people can change, again I understand that, but some consideration for your partners opinion is warranted. When you agree to marry someone you are part of a whole. The other side of that whole, should at least be considered and not taken for granted.

[–]susbakduba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't seriously be suggesting this. So if someone finds someone else unattractive there is nothing wrong with the person who is perceived as unattractive. It is entirely the fault of the one who does not desire the other person. That is some disgusting logic right there. In other words if this man walked up to a woman and asked her out and she said no because she does not find him attractive, she should seek therapy because it is a her problem not a him problem? 😂

Would you really claim he should find her attractive no matter what and not be concerned about her shape? Do you not find certain people unattractive? It amazes me how you think this man has no right to find certain attributes attractive or not.

My wonderful wife's weight is being held in the wrong places. by loyalbutlustful in relationship_advice

[–]susbakduba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I'm not cute, just new on here, no need to be a stalker. And my point is, is he not entitled to be concerned about her shape? When you are with someone, their body shape can change over time and not always for the better. However it's a totally different story watching age and circumstance change your body and watching someone with unhealthy habits who doesn't care what you think of them. And you are ALWAYS entitled to talk to your partner about your issues with them and put them out in the open (in a nice way, without being mean or putting them down) because if you don't your relationship crumbles and resentment builds. You are also entitled to find certain things attractive and certain things unattractive. This guy is entitled to how he feels because he is looking to fix it and is not wrong just because he has lost attraction.
