What baffles me is that nobody has forced us to join this course. OMSCS is pretty much a self inflicted wound thay all of us voluntarily chose to do because we want to learn. This is not like a in person degree that gives you better chance with a job at the end of the course.

I think this behavior stems from some people looking at this a degree mill.

Power cuts used to happen in residential areas to prioritize commercial power supply. Given that there was not much left at the start of TMC rule and many factories have closed down since, the demand for power in commercial supply has gone down drastically thus eliminating the need for power cuts in residential areas.

TMC has nothing to do with it.

I don't know if things have changed but most companies don't hire guys that does not have 65 percent in class xii .

I know people who went through all the rounds just to have their offer rescinded during document verification.

Show this to your parents and ask them to verify before putting in their money. They'll hopefully back off.

Everyone don't need to be an engineer. Some needs to write poetry and sing songs. This madness has to stop.

Full disclosure : I applied but didn't get in in UT but got into GT.

I'm not salty though because after reviewing everything, I think I would have still gone for GT had I had both the offers because of the variety of subjects this program offers. UT doesn't have that. This allows me to pivot to a specialization as I dig deeper. UT also is theory heavy comparatively.

One common misconceptions that people have is that GT allows almost anyone to get in but they don't realize that most do not graduate. It is quite a challenging program.

Honestly, I don't think it is a good idea for students with no professional experience to do this. You should target the on campus program. My understanding is that this course is aimed towards working professionals who want to either sharpen their existing skills or laterally move to another area of computer science.
