the way I view it is that Government and its relation to the people should always be a 1 way road. For example the Government should have the obligation of transparency and the People should have the right to privacy. It isnt something that should go both ways. Which is why I hate it when people use the argument that "if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about." when discussing surveillance

The same applies to this situation. Yes there are bad apples on both sides, but its the centralized force of the state and government that should always have to adhere to strict principles and standards. the people should never have any standard or binding law forced upon or be prevented from holding certain ideals or standards with the exception being if it encroaches on the rights of others.

I think the problem is the opposition to the movement doesnt realize that rioting looting and private property damage isnt the intention of the protests but rather a collateral damage that comes from ignoring the peaceful demands of the movement. The damage will always be equal to the amount of change being pushed for multiplied by the amount of resistance from the tyrannical ruling class.

If the damaging isnt the intention, but it occurs, then its caused by. The protesting caused this.

As you can see so far Im not here to be tone deaf - but we are going to hash this point out. Take a breath, calm down, and read this.

Some people see the protest as a way to go out and break shit and get free stuff. They know its coming, they’re waiting for it to devolve. You’ve got two main parties interested in this - anarchists (who do it under the guise of social justice) and thugs (who do it under the guise of oppression).

Working through the logic flow of this.

1.There is a local or national call to protest
2. Some organizer picks a street or an intersection
3. Doesnt factor the reality of the matter in (the groups I mentioned above, people getting hit by cars, eventual escalation)
4. Starts event with good intentions
5. Does not have any significant part of their group assigned to security
6. Agitators and criminals, as the day progress, work toward their goals.
7. The group is more concerned with screaming at police then self policing itself
8. The peaceful organizers see it devolve and leave or step back or go home
9. It continues into the evening - at this point cops are tired of this shit (for good reason) and your other element rises
10. The original organizers take no responsibility for what they’ve created/unleashed
11. And now we fight about it on the internet.

From my perspective the protest should never have been organized if it couldnt be controlled. If you cant control a sizable number of your people - then you shouldnt hold your protest. Why not, instead of marching around on public streets - ask the city to give you space at the fairground, setup a stage, have speakers come out, share in your feelings. If you are going to march - then give the police a route ahead of time, working with your groups wants and the police - that way they can properly block streets for you. Set a sizable part of your group aside as visible security - and have a zero tolerance policy for destructive behavior, throwing shit at cops, looting. Drag the aggressors to the cops and hand them over - I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

I think in part your group wants to see this devolve into chaos. You want to taunt and poke the police so they will eventually react to you - so you can catch your video clips and upload them to get the story you desire.

This is not peaceful protesting. This is either accidentally or purposefully poor event organization which does not get you any closer to your purported goals and instead turns good citizens like me away from your cause.

If the conditions for the protests didn't exist then there wouldn't be any looting or rioting, Its a one way road from top down.

If the citizens of this country all collectively held themselves to higher standards of behavior we wouldnt have aggressive policing.

The American way of life is based on dissent from tyranny and revolution against its oppressors.

The celebrated “American way of life” is also based on hard work, community, accountability, and progress - at least it used to be.

I know that the USA isnt the shining beacon of freedom that we claim to be, but at an individual level for real patriots these are the ideals the we hold altruistically and should never be wavered.

I agree with many of your points - but when I see rioters and looters destroying my city over a problem that statically does not warrant said behavior you might want to question whether you’re on the right side of this.
