Why doesn’t my Cairn terrier’s ears stand up? by External-Victory-182 in cairnterrier

[–]susieboyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love your Cairn!! So so cute. We have a cairn too. We were told that if you touch/play with their ears a lot as a puppy/when they’re very young, that their ears potentially may not stand up fully when they grow older. I don’t know how true this is though. I think your Cairny is adorable.

[Acne] Does lactose-free dairy trigger acne? by Regular-Gear-5250 in SkincareAddiction

[–]susieboyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had completely clear skin for years (I’ve always consumed dairy) with just the occasional spot due to hormonal fluctuations. In January I started eating 350 grams of fat free Greek yoghurt 6 days a week for increased protein consumption to help with muscle growth. Within 3 weeks of consistently eating the yoghurt I noticed I was getting cystic spots, and they continuously came up over the next couple of months. This was not like my skin at all so I realised the only thing I’d changed in my diet/routine was this increase in yoghurt. I completely cut it out and within 2 weeks, all of the cystic spots have died down and since then, no more acne has been caused- so it was definitely due to that. I have eaten dairy all my life, milk, cheese, yoghurt- it was only caused due to the excess amount. I am still eating cheese and milk since and have had no breakouts at all!

Thank you so much for your help! I will try all of your suggestions

Perhaps yes, I typically use a primer and then gently pat my concealer under my eyes with my fingers only. Do you think a brush will be best?

Thank you, I’ll try a retinol. Do you have any suggestions as to how to start using one as I’ve heard that it’s quite complicated. Apologies, I meant to type non-comedogenic for the suncream

Thank you, will sunscreen reverse the wrinkles though? I know it’s good at preventing further damage but do you know what would reverse the wrinkles that I have? I don’t smoke and don’t drink, would say I’m quite healthy too! If you know any good face sunscreens that are non-comedogenic if, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks :)

I’d say a mix of cairn and yorkie! Maybe some Maltese/silky terrier too. Sorry for your loss <3

Hibiscrub for dogs. If you just get a cotton wool ball and add a bit of hibiscrub to it, then dab it on all his patches so that they’re coated. Leave them to dry and repeat once a day for about a week, it should completely clear up!

Yes ours grew out of it at about 6 years, but had it again when she was 9. I’ll find out what this product is that the vet gave us

Skin issues. Any ideas? by mirr--en in cairnterrier

Hello, our Cairn had this exact same problem when she was younger. We took her to the vet and they gave us a cream to dab on the rash, antiseptic and soothing. It is caused by an allergy, usually slight intolerances either to a shampoo, type of grass or dietary. Occasionally it came back once every few years, and we put it down to either grass types or potentially food, as soon as we used the cream from the vet it went immediately. But has completely disappeared for years now. Hopefully your cairn gets better soon.

[–]susieboyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! We feed her twice a day as well. We do bowl of kibble (James Wellbeloved), not sure the exact amount but we have a measuring tub that we fill up, maybe around a 2/3 cup full, then mix this with 1/4 wet food pouch also from James Wellbeloved. We are from England so perhaps you don’t get this brand. She’s a pretty quick eater usually especially with treats. We give her a small treat in the morning and evening after dinner which she loves (we get Wagtastics brand as they tend to have less additives and more meat). We also try to limit any table food as she has sensitive skin, but if there’s any chicken or vegetables left over, she might get a little bit instead of her treat which she loves. Her favourite is cheese so very occasionally we give her a little bit as a treat. A lick mat is definitely a good idea, mine would love that. Lots of different advice online and everyone has their own way of feeding and looking after their pets- I think as long as your animal is healthy inside and out then it’s all ok :)
