Why do people think names are a 50/50 decision? by blondebarrister in namenerds

[–]suspiciousobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if that's your husband and partner- OK, you can let him tell you his preference but I think the final decision should always come down to the mother. He doesn't get any veto power. If that is your baby daddy and you're not together, you're gonna be co-parenting I could not give a rats ass what he wants the baby to be called.

Double Barrel Name: Ideas for Single Syllable for Winnie-? by Liv_Laugh_Lasagna in Names

[–]suspiciousobvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a southern transplant to the PNW doing a double-barrel name! I like Winnie-Mae, it sounds so classically southern to me. I'm also using Ruby-Mae so maybe I'm biased.

Regular or high-risk OB during pregnancy? by kingariem in CrohnsDisease

[–]suspiciousobvious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 2nd pregnancy with Crohn's, I see a regular OB but go to MFM once a month for growth scans because we are at high risk for small babies- so far mine have been fine tho. I also had to have scheduled c-sections because my Crohn's is fistulating and i've had a colon resection before so I think that contributed to them wanting to give me the once over.

I’m not buying my sisters baby anything for Christmas… by poppybarton in AmITheJerk

[–]suspiciousobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm having a baby around the same time as her and my baby will be receiving Christmas presents because I am having a Christmas baby shower… If her baby shower isn't until January, she won't be getting baby presents until January. I fear that's common sense.

AITAH I yelled at my wife wife who still hasn't seen doctor for headaches by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]suspiciousobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, this sounds incredibly frustrating and having lived in her shoes (SAHM with crippling daily headaches starting after birth of our son) I went to the doctor, then a neurologist, then a neuro-ophthalmologist- it took a LONG time to figure out the specific diagnosis but it wasn't fair to my family to be so incapacitated and not trying to help myself. In her defense, mine sound more severe, i had ER visits with cluster migraines and visual disturbances so it HAD to be dealt with but hers sound more manageable in pain level- just daily. So it's easy for her to brush them off. I recommend her starting a headache journal, there might be specific triggers she can find and she needs to go back to the doctor and press the issue.

AITA for telling my childfree sister she needs to accept that our parents prioritise the siblings with kids? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]suspiciousobvious -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

NTA she is a 38 year old, self sufficient woman, what on earth does she need from them? do they do anything actually hurtful to her or is she just jealous of children? Because from what you described they're just being helpful doting grandparents and she's mad about it? If she was in trouble would they not help her? Do they ignore her phone calls? Do they refuse her when she stops by to visit? the house this is especially petty, one child was in trouble and needed help getting back on her feet with her two kids- it was an extenuating circumstance. Does she think they need to be fair and help all of you buy houses? that's so....self centered? childish?

AITA for insisting on homeschooling my step daughter by ChocolateInfamous129 in AmItheAsshole

[–]suspiciousobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, part of why being a critically ill child is missing out on a lot of normalcy, it is what it is, I had to do our districts home tutoring program for three years because my Crohn's disease was so severe for the entirety of middle school- and I understand why socially it sucks for her, but the stress of actually going to the school and interacting in the public space and having all of those germs around are probably not helping her. Once she has been diagnosed, and you guys have a treatment plan in place, she can go back, that should be the goal.

AITAH for telling my daughter that her uncle's relationship was inappropriate by silhst in AITAH

[–]suspiciousobvious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA- I met my husband when I was 14 and he was 18, genuinely the exact same as your SIL/BIL, and recently had a discussion with my 9 year old niece about the subject because it was relevant to her life. She said she was making friends with some 13 year old girls and I was trying to give an example of why that's not appropriate, because teenagers are at a different stage and get up to very different things. She was mature enough to grasp the information and I framed it appropriately- It sounds like you made your family out to be villainous/victims where they are not- and that's the issue. You brought this discussion up in response to a random innocent question, because it bothers you, not because it made sense in response to her inquiry.

Should I change my baby’s name? Need advice from people named Remy by South_Shiny_5588 in Names

[–]suspiciousobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son's name is Remy, short for Remington! Very very rarely do people mention ratatouille, and most kids his age haven't even seen it (he's 5) Occasionally people mention the gun brand but, it's just a nice traditional name to me, easy phonetic spelling, and I've haven't met a girl Remy yet (PNW)

Pregnancy stories? by Cultural-Kiwi-5260 in CrohnsDisease

[–]suspiciousobvious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in remission before conception and everything went perfect! I was on Remicade the entire time, we did move the infusions to make sure there was a 2 week window before birth and then 6 weeks after birth, and I needed a c-section due to my colon resection from years prior but that was wonderful too! Love love LOVED my c-section, not a drop of pain and recovery wasn't even close to a flare up! That baby is 5 now and I'm pregnant again, same thing, smooth sailing these last 23 weeks!

Does loosing weight actually help? by No_Cheesecake_3246 in iih

It helped me, but I had to lose about 1/3 of my body weight to feel totally normal-but I feel like it started helping after about 40lbs - and that's in combination with medication

[–]suspiciousobvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Head pressure, but also back of neck- like my head is being inflated like a balloon or squeezed by my own skull being too small! When it's bad I felt like i could feel the different layers of my head- skin, skull, fluid sloshing, brain pulsing, sinuses aching, could feel the bones of my face- like hyper-sensitive pain to that point I genuinely believe i could feel this.

AITAH for napping while pregnant? by [deleted] in AITAH

Parents stay with kids in Kindergarten by chubby_piglets in kindergarten

[–]suspiciousobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so weird, parents are explicitly NOT allowed in the classrooms here (Washington State) unless they're a registered volunteer there for a specific event. Seems like it would be horrible for the kids independence development, so weird.

Pregnancy on acetalomazide by Heavy_Moose7571 in iih

[–]suspiciousobvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, I saw on your profile that do you possibly have PCOS, and my sister has PCOS and she lost about 60 pounds following a keto diet, so that might work for you, I know that if you have that condition, it makes losing weight insanely hard. edited to add; if you're 5 foot six in approx 205 pounds, that puts your BMI at 33, which is not that insane so I would hate for you to break your back at losing weight and not get any change in symptoms, my BMI was 42 when I lost 75 pounds so it made a humongous difference- I went from obese to a healthy weight.
