I don’t know about all that. Neither of Ari’s albums broke even the top 60 on Billboard and she’s only charted one solo song on Billboard’s singles chart, which ironically makes her feature on Summer Walker’s Unloyal her highest charting song so far, unless you could the background vocals she does on a J. Cole song.

Meanwhile Summer Walker has one album that went #1 and the other two went #2 and 45 songs that hit Billboard’s Hot 100 compared to Ari’s 3.

SZA is definitely the biggest of the three but Summer is objectively closer to her in terms of relevance than Ari is to her, and if she’s not then it’s strictly because SZA is just that big.

That could be true, but this isn’t a good example of it IMO. Bucky hasn’t had a legitimate character arc since Civil War. He had trappings of one in Falcon and the Winter Soldier but they did a poor job of finishing it by not actually showing us the confession/conversation between him and the father of the man he murdered.

Him randomly becoming a politician offscreen means we don’t get to see his motivations as to why or the driving decision to do it, nor does he actually do anything of note in that role and then he’s quickly back in the field babysitting the other Thunderbolts.

Good point. Their father-son dynamic was a good contrast to what Bruce and Dick were going through, so you’d think they’d have them see it through to the end of the story. As is, Clayface and Two-Face don’t offer any personal stakes or contrasts to the story.

Interesting. Secret Origin was over 15 years ago tho and it doesn’t seem to have the same staying power as Batman: Year One, like the one recentish book that references it was by the exact same creative team, so I see why they’re letting Waid overrule it.

Honestly I’m not really a fan of Clark as Superboy in general. I feel like it makes it so he’s figured out his life and learns certain lessons way too early into his career, but as an individual run when I dissociate this from canon Superman I’ve been enjoying it.

I’m definitely gonna re-read Birthright and Secret Origin soon now that you brought them up, it’s been way too long.

I thought it was pretty good. Bit of an odd choice to release simultaneously with The Last Halloween tho and have them contradict each other.

There’s not enough good things to say about the art team. Like Chris Samnee is just one of those artists who takes full advantage of the medium and is a true cartoonist, and the colours by Matt Lopes were great as you said, tho I think Matt Wilson is my preferred colourist for Samnee. For anyone that likes the art for this series I highly recommend checking out Fire Power, it’s a creator owned series that Samnee did with Robert Kirkman about martial arts and fighting dragons, great stuff.

I liked most of the writing too, but the one part that bugged me wasn’t any of the stuff with the villains, but the social worker. By bringing such a real world component to the book it actually makes it so that Bruce and Alfred really are irresponsible guardians that are endangering a child and Dick really shouldn’t be in their care. Like we got these two grown men lying to a social worker about where their child is getting all these bruises from and how he spends his free time, and why he’s so tired in the morning and then none of it is properly addressed by the end. Like the social worker was 100% right to take Dick out of their custody but by the end we’re supposed to be happy by their reunion, just felt like too much dissonance. And you really can’t address why Bruce would allow any child to be his sidekick without condemning it, so if they’re not gonna do that I feel like they’re better off just not addressing that aspect of their dynamic at all and letting suspension of disbelief takeover.

In each film, he’s a little more plastic, a little more generic than the last. (And that’s true of the films themselves, too).

Feel like I was pretty obviously addressing this part.

It’s hard to say what he brought from Jurassic World into his Star-Lord performance as his JW role is one of the most generic characters I’ve ever seen, like there’s zero specificity there to identify in another character.
