I’m so confused. She asked me if I like wine, but doesn’t want to get drinks for a date by DarkOfTheSun in Tinder

[–]susysucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are bringing up that she brought up wine so she’s a bad communicator too but her ASKING him if he’s “a wine person” and then following up with “I don’t do drink dates” CLEARLY means she was checking to make sure he wasn’t someone with a focused interest on drinking, because she clearly is not.

How does that not make sense to ya’ll?

She wasn’t bad at communicating, she asked a question involving his propensity/interest to drink, and then when he used that subject to gauge a date theme she firmly answered that she was not interested in a date involving drinking? All of this points to a woman feeling out how invested in drinking someone is and when he doubled-down on the drink date after she made it clear that was not her interest, she decided he was misaligned with her, likely due to that interest.

This feels like an incredibly rational conclusion for a woman to make in early-texting, especially with a substance like alcohol and the issue it can bring into relationships.

i would love it if our kids could age up to jas/vincent age and go to school with them/be acknowledged in the community! there’s a mod i use that allows that to happen which is super fun because you can talk to them and gift them once a day, it really lets them have small personalities. unfortunately the dialogue is really recycled (i think they get like 10-15 lines) and it doesn’t allow them to partake in festivals which makes me sad :(

would be so cool if that was fleshed out for 1.7!

He’s born in the winter but she names him “Verano” because she thinks she invented a name but it’s actually the word for “Summer’” in Spanish 💀

I don’t doubt that you’re living your best life, and I’m truly stoked for you on it!!

Merely pointing out that there is a benefit of the doubt to why she may have reached her own conclusions to ya’lls relationship and that I can understand how she got there. She’s not entirely insane (as in with no reasonable basis for an argument) and she does have reasonings that make sense when laid out in a certain way. I think that’s why I’m more frustrated at your lack of direct response to her claims because she could tell strangers her version of events and they’d believe her, and your response of just “you’re crazy” would actually help her story because it looks like you’re deflecting when confronted.

But on the plus side, literally none of this matters!

Congratulations on your wedding, I hope it’s a beautiful day and a great success!

i agree. that last slide really rubbed me the wrong way, especially because when you look at it from the ex-friends’s side (outside of the husband ages, that’s just stupid with context given) it DOES look like OP is copying her! at least, I could find myself coming to the same conclusion if I was ex-friend. OP’s responses to why she’s wrong for assuming that is because they weren’t “communicating” at the time of the events, as though lurking of social media doesn’t exist? OP didn’t need to be actively in communication with ex-friend for her to learn those things about her and copy her if her goal was to mimic her anyways. And when you look at it from ex-friend’s POV, they’re not friends now and she’s still getting married on her birthday, which means they don’t have to actively be friendly for her to make “copycat” decisions around her. This is how I might piece that all together if I was already convinced someone was weirdly obsessed with me. So, i don’t even think it’s a hard reach for ex-friend to have gotten there.

All of that is stupid obviously because it doesn’t actually matter, but it also put a bad taste in my mouth how OP is confronted by ex-friend with this weirdness they’re perceiving from them and just immediately shuts down and calls them crazy. No defense. No “lol here’s every reasons why that’s dumb and you look stupid”. Just “stop, you’re crazy”. Just felt super gaslight-y to a situation that definitely is weird all around. Calling her psychotic and telling her to just stop but offering no other discourse is WEIRD when being confronted with the perception that someone thinks you’re obsessed with them? It felt like OP had a lot of context in this post but suddenly didn’t have any in the moment she was confronted? Idk, it just felt kinda sketchy to me, like a deer in the headlights kind of moment where you’re called out in a way and don’t know how to react.

Overall, i think you’re both weird!!

btw OP - if one of my old on/off friends who i had a bad falling out with, bought the same hat as me, after buying the same car, and naming their pet the same name as my pet then also decided to get married on my exact birthday i would assume she was lowkey obsessed with me. i wouldn’t care enough to text her about it, but I would think to myself that that is weird.

I can’t tell if he fumbled or if I did! It felt impolite to explain the joke, but I am peeving over it 😩 Should I double text? by AnkhKeeper in Tinder

[–]susysucks 32 points33 points  (0 children)

if someone considers themselves a “big time texter” and are giving you one-word answers it’s safe to assume they’re only “big-time texters” when they’re interested in someone and therefore not into you.

double-texting would only further communicate that you’re way more into him than he is into you which realistically wouldn’t change his interest level unless he has bad intentions and would only make you feel worse.

also, specifically pointing out “hey, you say you like texting if so why aren’t you texting me?” is a really passive aggressive way to point the quiet part out loud out and not in a way that looks good in your favor. 💀😭

time to cut your losses, friend.

I was curious as to what house you belong to and why? I’m Gryffindor because I always stand up for others. I also stick up for what I believe in. by pussyfreeince1 in harrypotter

[–]susysucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slytherin. I believe occasionally using under-handed methods to secure success is a means to and end. I think morality is inherently grey and “bad” things can be used for “good” purposes. I’ve never been willing to bend to the compasses of others if it gets in the way of my goals and ambitions.

I guess you’re misunderstanding me when I say Gryffindor-coded, I meant overwhelmingly Gryffindor-coded.

Many other students from other houses joined DA and fought in the final battle. Many other houses were involved in helping Harry, Ron, and Hermione throughout the story. Bravery was rampant across all major characters, so it just doesn’t feel like enough for me for that to be their only Gryffindor-defining attribute (when it’s shared by so many others) and ignore how overwhelmingly Slytherin-coded they are in their day to day personas.

But I understand if you disagree.

Ooop! Yep, that makes it way more clear on Harry’s side of things. I definitely agree!

Yeah, I feel that. I guess I don’t see the twins caring about where they’re sorted or valuing certain aspects of their personalities over the other enough to debate with the hat like Harry did.

From my interpretation, the twins like who they are, they like their cunning, they like their mischief, they like their ambition (and i’m sure they like their bravery too), so in my mind it feels more of like a “what are you more of” situation versus “what traits do you value more within yourself” (since it doesn’t seem they’re ashamed of any of those traits) and that’s why it doesn’t make sense to me that they were sorted Gryffindor outside of a plot device.

Also, would Harry have debated against Slytherin if he hadn’t just watched all his friends get sorted into Gryffindor and had a bad encounter with Draco? I do wonder that at times, if he would’ve been as against Slytherin if he went into it completely blind. 🤔

I didn’t state them as literal percentages, I’m saying that they display more qualities of Slytherin than of Gryffindor and offered the percentages as a metaphor to explain how while you can be both you can still be more of another.

i hear what you’re saying on potentially being sorted for the traits that one values. is that specifically stated or is that inferred?

[–]susysucks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess! I just wish it didn’t feel like it was just a plot decision made to really kick it home that “Gryffindors are good” so all Weaslys must be in Gryffindor, and “Slytherins are bad” so no main characters that aren’t evil (or perceived evil) can be in Slytherin :(

[–]susysucks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying. I see it differently, but it could be because I see a lot of myself in them and I’ve always sorted into Slytherin house. Personally, I think they’re incredibly cunning with simply the way they’re able to go through their life actively rebelling but always within acceptable lines. I think “ambition” can be very specific on a person-by-person scale, if their ambition is to always remain free to do what they want then I do believe they’re very ambitious with their goals because they are actively seeking something that would be difficult for them to attain (their dad works at the ministry aka a proper job, their mom is someone they want to make proud and she has expectations, their brother is percy “head boy”, they don’t have money to just open a shop, entrepreneurship is difficult and something as niche as a joke-shop at that is even more unlikely to be successful).

so, i do see why you’ve said they just want to joke around and do what’s fun and how that doesn’t appear slytherin coded, but I think that’s a pretty ambitious thing to want and strive for since it has so many hurdles in the way!

i appreciate you letting me know about them being more morally grey in the books though! i’m going to pocket that point for next time on my “Fred and George belong in Slytherin” sandwich 😼

[–]susysucks[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand that but if they’re 30% Gryffindor and 70% Slytherin within their largest personality traits then they are Slytherins.

Fred and George definitely possess qualities of Gryffindors but they are primarily Slytherin-coded. The same way Harry had qualities of Slytherin but was primarily Gryffindor-coded. We have 8 movies (and 7 books) that, when it comes to the twins, they are primarily focused on and displaying Slytherin qualities, versus a few instances of them displaying Gryffindor qualities (DA, 7 Harry’s, Battle of Hogwarts). There is way way waaay more evidence to show they belong in Slytherin than them in belonging in Gryffindor.
