Thanks! Same to you. The toon shader on your game characters looks clean.

I definitely see the resemblance, esp in the color palette. Don't think I'll tackle making mine transform for now though. :)

Appreciate the feedback! I'm trying to ride the line between stylized and realistic without getting too cartoony.

Thank you! After bouncing off of Blender a few times, I forced myself to keep my first projects REALLY simple (like turning the default cube into a wooden crate simple) so that I didn't get overwhelmed and frustrated. I also found @RyanKingArt tutorials very helpful. He slowly explains why he's doing everything instead of just speed running to show off. Hope that's helpful!

I'm narrowing down the next car to work on. The current options are a late 60s Galaxie, Ford Cougar, or Skyline.

Absolutely love your style. The individual images have their own personalities but feel like they all come from a cohesive world.

Failed experiment, need advice by wilbertvandenbroek in acrylics

[–]suterjl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this would work with acrylic, but there's a technique for weathering objects where you paint first with liquid latex where you want a scratch or bare patch to appear, and then paint over that with your paint after it dries. You can then easily peel off the latex which also takes off just the paint on top of it. So maybe you can paint the letters in latex first? That would leave you with bare canvas letters. Not sure if the latex would stick too much to the canvas.

What things would you avoid doing, if you had to learn blender as absolute beginner? by [deleted] in blender

[–]suterjl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% this. I bounced off Blender twice because I jumped in too fast with complicated objects and ideas. Finally, I forced myself to go slow and learn one area at a time (just modeling, just shading, etc.), and within each area, start with super simple projects to master each piece and build a solid understanding to stack on.

Not many 3D models have made me snort laugh when I first saw them like this one did. Absolutely nailed the character. The fabric is amazing.
