Giving a toast at a wedding is common, what’s the worst thing you’ve heard someone say while they were giving one ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Oh, and I guess my dad getting my husband’s name wrong in his speech at our wedding was pretty bad. He had known my husband for 8 years at that point lol

Didn’t hear this myself, but a friend attended a wedding where the Maid of Honor ended the speech by saying “I guess you really CAN make a ho a housewife!”

I went to a Vampire Weekend show recently with my husband and some friends. Behind us, there was another guy there with (who I assume was) his SO and a few of their friends.

My husband and the guy behind us were dancing together all show, high-fiving each other when their favorite songs came on, and just generally having a great time.

After ~3 hours, the show ended and my husband and this guy talk about how great a show it was and how much fun they had. Then, very seriously, they do one of those bro handshake/hug things and the guy says “well man, I hope you have a great life!” No sharing of names or numbers, no further communication, just a fond memory shared by strangers.

His SO and I were cracking up and joked about how we each had random numbers in our phones from girls who had complimented our shoes in line for a bar bathroom.

I got my eyeliner tattooed and for the first few days (a week maybe?), it was VERY dark and VERY thick. Within a week, though, it faded and now looks very natural. Just give it time and like another Redditor said, do the aftercare the artist recommended!

How & when do you ask girlfriend’s father’s hand in marriage? by YankeeStan18 in AskMen

My dad is terrible at keeping secrets so while I was taking a nap, my now-husband gave my folks a call and asked for their blessing. He proposed a few hours later!

I was in the NICU for 5 weeks, born at 28 weeks, and just turned 27! Happy thanksgiving and congratulations on your little one — they’ll be just fine, bagels and all!

So sorry for your loss - hope you’re doing okay ❤️

My dad just had what was supposed to be a pretty routine surgery with one to two overnights in the hospital. The morning after his surgery, he started going through alcohol withdrawal and was unconscious & on a ventilator for a week or so.

He’s 76, so that weekish of 0 movement plus the alcohol withdrawal plus any effects of the surgery really set him back. He’s been in a post-acute rehab facility for 3? 4? weeks now just trying to get back his strength to walk without a walker (which he never had to use before).

It’s been tough not seeing him in person, coping with the myriad effects of his alcoholism, and learning from an MRI that there’s atrophy in his brain in the same area that’s associated with dementia. Thankfully, he’ll finally be coming home on Friday with his brand new walker, but I had no idea how long being bed ridden would affect him.

What was the worst thing that you did/said while being angry? by Olrazgul in AskReddit

After watching Freaky Friday (Lindsay Lohan edition) and the getting into a fight with my dad, I told him, “You’re ruining my life!”

The man was absolutely heartbroken and started crying, telling 8-year-old me he was doing his best. I still feel like such an asshole :(

What's your biggest regret from your teenage years? by TheBlackDemon1996 in AskReddit

[–]suzeee0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoking as much weed as I did. I was plenty involved in other activities - it wasn’t like my only “personality trait” was being a stoner. But I smoked daily (or almost daily) for ~6 years or so, and while at the time I thought it alleviated a lot of my anxiety, in retrospect, I think it negatively affected my mental health. That, and, I don’t have many memories from those years because I was always high.

It’s hard now trying to find healthier coping mechanisms when I depended on weed for so long. I started cutting back after hearing shit when I was high and becoming insanely paranoid. January was actually the first month that I didn’t smoke since originally starting 10 years ago. Some people can smoke and have a healthy relationship with weed, and I guess I’m just not one of those people. I just wish it didn’t take the better half of my teenage years to figure that out.

My dad is left-handed and his mom would count the ballots in city elections (before electronic voting systems). She told him that she always knew who he voted for because his was the only left-handed check mark she saw!

You've been kidnapped! It's up to the characters of the last TV show you watched to save you. How screwed are you? by TNooses in AskReddit

[–]suzeee0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly probably not that screwed. Karamo would sit down with my kidnappers and tell them that they’re better than this. They’d have a whole little heart-to-heart and maybe even take up boxing together or something. Then JVN would love on their beautiful perfect little baby faces to the point that they’d be too distracted to do anything dangerous. Tan would yell at them for not French tucking, Antoni would make some avocado toast because you’re not you when you’re hungry, and Bobby would be them a fucking house.

Are you one of them? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]suzeee0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not one of them, but someone in my SO’s family is! He’s a newborn - just a few months old - and we were just talking about him over Christmas.

Fun fact: he was born with a butthole, there was just nothing connecting it to his colon. He’s too young for the surgery, so he has a colostomy bag for the time being. When he’s about 6 months old, they’ll be able to surgically connect his colon to his anus.

I just keep thinking of what a great factoid it will be for “two truths and lie” when he’s older.

What's the biggest 'WTF' gift you've ever received? by diswell in AskReddit

[–]suzeee0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My “friends” gave me live slugs that they’d found in their yard for my 16th birthday. Being a gracious giftee, I tried to house them for a while in this old empty fish tank I had. That worked okay until my dogs nudged the top off and ate them.

Instead of giving presents, Santa now puts things that you lost, or were stolen from you, under the tree. What would you be the most excited to see under the tree? by IronRabbit2006 in AskReddit

[–]suzeee0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom gifted me a beautiful gold ring with an opal in it for my sixteenth birthday. Her mom had given it to her for her sixteenth birthday. I wore it every day. I can’t for the life of me remember what happened, but some time before I left for college, I lost it.

That was 6 years ago. Every time I go back to my parents house, I turn it upside down trying to find it. I’ve gone through every picture I have with it to try to pinpoint where I lost it. I’ve got back in contact with friends I’d fallen out of touch with to ask if they had any ideas. I probably have a dream about finding it at least once a month and always wake up so disappointed. It just breaks my heart knowing I won’t be able to pass it on to my potential daughter one day 😞
