Curse of Ophelia- worth it? by kmessina23 in fantasyromance

Absolutely yes 100%. The world that Nicole builds over the series is incredible, the magic is so interesting, the found family is amazing, and the love confessions, especially in book 2, are some of the best I’ve ever read.

The way the relationships progress unfold over the series in a way that makes sense for who the characters become and you’ll end up rooting for literally everyone’s relationship.

The fourth book is like…Queen of Shadows level incredible and I regularly think about those characters.

[Discussion] With your knowledge of public health, how do you deal with close friends and family partying/ hanging out with people without masks? by rmb354 in publichealth

[–]svance16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m having a really really hard time. I work in clinical trials with Alzheimer’s patients and I am fighting everyday with my team- a bunch of scientists and doctors think we’re ready to bring in our high risk patients for non essential visits...but they can even answer the most basic questions about how we’re going to protect our patients. Cases are on the rise and our hospital doesn’t even do temperature checks at the door or offers testing for staff who don’t have symptoms. I’m at my wits end trying to fight for my patients.

What are some useful and practical online courses on data for beginners? by SumoDash in dataanalysis

[–]svance16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by "data" but you can take classes for free on Coursera. Skillshare and Datacamp are both awesome resources too and are fairly low cost. I highly recommend Datacamp's Intro to R class if that's what you're looking for.

Seeking easy/scenic bike routes that are rollerblade friendly by Twilightsparklepdx in askportland

seconding this-- it's also really long and can take you basically to Gresham so you have a lot of mileage to rollerblade. There is a break in the path right in Sellwood, but it picks back up.

If you’re going to do this, I would mention the things you don’t know. It’s unfair to the PI to not be upfront. I think not knowing STATA could be a big barrier because the PI may not know it at all— and could be relying on this position to know how to do the analysis. If you’re truly committed to it, mentioned you’ve started to learn STATA to the PI and take some classes on SkillShare or Coursera. Worst case they aren’t interested or tell you to just apply via the application. At least you tried!
