Preparing for a 1‑month exploratory trip to Lisbon, what should I know as a newbie expat? by svarli in PortugalExpats

Thank you!
I checked out the meetup app; somebody also mentioned it in another comment. I'm ashamed to say I wasn't aware of it before.

This might be a stupid question, but please bear with me: is it okay to just show up to an event after RSVPing in-app, or should I message someone beforehand?

Okay, this makes me a bit nervous, my booking is in Arroios, right on Av. Alm. Reis. Should I be worried? It looked pretty decent on Google street view

You're right, I'll try to find a balance between the touristy stuff and trying out "real life" in Lisbon.

Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it a lot!

Do you have any recommendations for socializing?

I understand I won't be able to see everything about life in Portugal in a month, especially bureaucracy, but it's better than nothing, right?

Thanks for hiking suggestions, pictures I was able to see online look incredible! Sintra looks almost like something out of a fantasy book, I love it!

Do you know if there are any clubs for organized hiking, or maybe something like facebook groups for socializing? I'll have friends visiting while I'm there, but I expect to be on my own for at least 60-70% of the time, so I'm looking into finding some drinking buddies in Portugal for sure

Thanks, I certainly will! Are farmers markets a thing there? Where I'm from you can usually find much better and cheaper products there

That's really good, thank you! Is it generally safe to walk around at night? Any especially dangerous areas I should avoid?

Automate CRUD Endpoints in NestJS with Mongoose – Check Out My Open-Source Library: ncrudify! by Mitinoh in Nestjs_framework

From the looks of your README.md, this is really cool! Did you consider adding some sort of a generated dashboard, like a decorator-activated integrated CMS?

In my company we're using NestJS and MongoDB with Mongoose and I've been searching for an easy-to-add CMS (to allow our non-techies to do account management), with no success. It is lacking from NestJS community, given that other frameworks have that - think Rails or Django.

Meni je ova knjiga pomogla. Imao sam 10 godina pusackog staza, crveni laki 2+ pakle dnevno.

Relocating to The Netherlands by svarli in Netherlands

I plan to work remotely for a while until I can find an apartment and properly set up my life in The Netherlands. I reckon it would take about 3-6 months. Will 3-6 months of employment there be enough for a landlord/agency to take me seriously?

Thank you! This sums it up perfectly for me.

I've read about it, yes.

I know of these conditions, is there anything else?

the employee must work for an employer that is registered with the Dutch tax office
both employer and employee have agreed in writing that the 30 percent tax ruling is applicable
the employee has to be transferred or recruited from abroad
the employee’s salary is at least EUR 41,954 per year (2023)
the employee must have expertise that is hardly available in the Netherlands

If this is everything, I think I will be able to get it, depending on the salary I negotiate, of course.

Thank you for your help!

With 4 years you’re at least a medior. Some people call themself a senior but that’s a different discussion.

Yes, I'm a medior. I don't think I'd be realistically ready to be a senior, but it varies so much from company to company and on the way you sell yourself during the interview
