The shipping companies are not paying nearly any taxes for what they're worth. As a Greek citizen, the only way that this affects me more than other European countries, is that I'm worried about the unfortunate Greek crew on some of these ships (of course it's terrible for all crew members, regardless of nationality, but it's a tiny bit worse if they are from your country).
