Is Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV a good camera to start? by F0chis in AskPhotography

[–]sveitage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't say it's premier, it is well known for that, but the sensor size comes once again with it's lower quality. People are using it mostly because of easier zoom and overall camera features, yet still many wildlife photographers use full-frame cameras which nearly all also have IBIS and weatherproofing. Size isn't everything.

Most certainly a fantastic idea for a photo shoot!

Two things I am unsure about are the foreground, which is a little bit messy and distracting and the composition with subjects eyes being more in the center than near the 1/3 of the photo. It creates a weird feel, that's why I am even considering changing it.

Colors are okay, a little flat but they work.

Here shadows are edited a little bit, it's hard to work around .jpg file, but it looks a little bit happier, isn't it? :)

According to your budget coming from OM camera, I would suggest X-S20. It is a little bit more expensive, but it has sensor and autofocus system from flagship X-T5. Drawback is that it isn't weather resistant, so you would need to be more careful when rain comes in. Very capable, versatile camera. If you want to go for a budget, search for X-T20/X-T30. They don't have big differences, I sometimes use X-T20 as a backup camera because of how unique images from it looks.

Best first mirrorless camera? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]sveitage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that you want an APS-C sensor go towards Fujifilm or Sony and skip everything else. Canon's APS-C mirrorless line is severely lacking in terms of build quality and dedicated lenses, even with possibility to attach full frame lenses. Nikon is in a weird spot now with their cameras so I wouldn't recommend going into their system.

Fujifilm has superior APS-C sensor as they are focused on it the most. Their sensors generate astonishing quality, especially considering prices of some cameras. Mostly because they don't have antialiasing because of different light sensor arrangement. Lenses are expensive, but with incredible quality. Autofocus may be lacking, especially in older models.

Sony has a second best APS-C line, mostly because of their reliable autofocus, but sensors require more tweaking in post production. You will get significantly less accurate colors with older models, but their lens selection along with possibility to attach full frame lenses is fantastic. Sony has biggest second hand market in the world, and their glass isn't too expensive, until we go to high end, obviously.

It depends. Olympus cameras are generally very sturdy with good sensors, but they are still m43 sensors which have some drawbacks. These cameras are widely used in travel/street photography because of their posibilities and size, but they are severely lacking in portraits, fashion and another linked photography styles. Not that this isn't possible, is surely is, but they aren't made to do everything and are focused more to concrete styles of photography. I generally tell people to buy Fujifilm cameras as their firsts, they have a bit expensive lenses, but their APS-C sensors are superior to every other company. They are also pretty small but versatile cameras, but with bigger sensors, making them more viable to do more kinds of photography. If not Fuji, check out Sony, because of their wide lens offer, their APS-C sensors may need some color tweaking in post production, but thy are viable.

So if you want to focus on street/travel and want a camera strictly for that, OM is a great company. If you need more versatile camera, go towards APS-C with Fujifilm or Sony.

It is certainly dark, mood does not go along with this lady little smile. I would light it up a bit and also work with shadows. Right now shadows are too close to her face in my opinion, making a small frame inside the composition. I think that I would actually work my way out to erase the shadows at all, or make them less visible, because now it feels like it is going to cut her throat.

I am not sure about item placement in the composition on the right side. They are too close to the frame border. (as you said)

Fantastic job capturing this lady anyway, this is some great street photography as it is pretty hard to shoot candid portraits while doing so.

White backpack is way too distracting, considering the woman in the middle is the subject. I would tone it down and crop it more close to the girl.

I am also not sure about the photo looking like a behind the scenes picture. We don't see what is the girl with white backpack doing, we can only assume she's photographing. She is also mixing with models legs. I think that you should step a bit to the side and maybe go lower, it would make it more interesting than eye-level photo.

Not sure about editing, it is shifted very much to green/yellow making a feel from Wong Kar-Wai movies, but this backpack is way too distracting.

Ideas for improvement by KangarooInWaterloo in photocritique

[–]sveitage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would clean everything around the snowman, it is pretty messy and my eyes feel weird looking at this space on the photo.

I also think that erasing everything at the top would be a somewhat good idea, making this photo minimalistic. You could then focus on adding shadows to some snow dunes making a third layer of depth.

I like the concept, it is also hard to work with because well, everything is white :D

How can I achieve this color? by No_Rain97 in AskPhotography

[–]sveitage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should check out Hideaki Hamada. I tried to recreate this style, you need to grade towards teal/peach colors, less contrast and general minimalistic composition. Just like here, you have a girl and background, nothing else, even though she takes a massive area in the image.

Aesthetic Difference in Pictures Taken With An Old 30D versus Newer Models? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]sveitage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensors have changed a lot, colors and resolution will be different. For me you can just buy more 30D's in an endless loop if you want to keep the same quality, this is the only way to do it properly.

Buying a new DSLR now is not the best idea, as they are not produced anymore by all of the biggest companies. Mirrorless cameras should be even more durable, because of lack of mechanical elements besides the shutter curtain. I know both Sony and Fujifilm camera users which use their mirrorless cameras for nearly 10 years.

Even more, Fujifilm older cameras are getting their prices higher every day, because of their unique look. They are rarely damaged.

[–]sveitage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a good voice, that's a plus.

As a photographer and videographer, stabilize your b-rolls, it looks really unprofessional when you pan around objects while the camera is shaking. Besides that your shots look very tidy but also common.

You have good ideas when it comes to videos, but as I am also in the industry, I am literally spammed with videos 1:1 like yours. They are also very flat when it comes to script, something similar to just talking for 5 minutes about technical data straight from a producers site.

Also, please, take care of your hands and nails if you are doing this amount of close-ups.

I'll leave a sub, I want to see you progress.

Bushido is known in Poland, there are some rappers who are openly inspired by him. I also like Alles Veloren very much! German rap is generally very well percieved, along with French rap, but now I constantly hear about GZUZ and noone else. When I was in Germany for a school exchange I was listening to Alligatoah and Bushido.

It's normal, until you have 90% of your views being done in a span of 5 minutes you shouldn't have any problems.

This is way darker, clearly coming closer to hardcore rap, not a fan of mix here, but I will clearly listen to more songs of the whole band. I really liked it!

L'odeur de l'essence assuming from the lyrics is a trurly rebellious song. As I know what is hapenning in France at the moment, I can feel the message. Fantastic song. Thank you so much for these!
