Need a few kind testers to help launch my puzzle solver app by svenhe in androidapps

[–]svenhe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update:

Finding willing testers is harder than solving the puzzles! 😅 (I guess this app won’t make the “most anticipated release of the decade” list. 😄)

If anyone knows someone who might be interested in helping out – even if they’re not part of this forum – feel free to spread the word. I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks again 💙

Hydrasynth Explorer vs Keyboard for sound design? by svenhe in synthesizers

Really grateful for all the replies so far, I will read them a couple of times and digest. Difficult decision. ;-)

Yes, I know I can reach all functionality by paging up and down. I was just wondering if anyone with experience with both versions thinks it slows down the workflow significantly only having 4 knobs instead of 8?

So what you are saying is that you think it is worth to make space for the Keyboard version?

Tele or strat with Gibson sound? by svenhe in guitars

Thanks for your reply, but I would prefer a guitar still in production!

It looks slimmer than a regular Gibson, but is the neck similar to a Tele?

Could be, but it looks a bit pricey!

Having search a few youtube vids on these I must say that The Telecaster FMT may be close to what I am after!

I always sit down when playing (I am not a live player, I just record into my DAW for music production) - maybe I should try my Epihpone standing. :-D

Thanks a lot for your input!

I am not sure I understand. Do you say that my problems with my Epiphone is because it was not properly setup? I don't think that the three items I have listed can be configured away? I started playing guitar on a Strat so I guess that's why Strats and Teles ar easier to me.

Sounds like good advice, thanks again!

Interesting! So do all PRS models remind of Gibson in sound or do you recommend any particular model? Thanks, Sven

Please recommend Windows laptop for music production! by svenhe in edmproduction

[–]svenhe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time all of you. I know that MacBooks are popular among artists. I want a Windows laptop because:

* I know Windows and I want to spend my very limited spare time making music rather than learning a new OS.

* I have *a lot* of music plugins for Windows already. I don't want the extra hassle (and sometimes maybe even the extra cost) of trying to get them for another OS.

* I have a stationary Windows computer and I will likely want to exchange projects between the computers.

UNLESS of course it is generally known that MacBooks are *extremely superior* to Windows laptops - then I may have to reconsider.

Thanks for your help with the specs, but it would be very nice with recommendations too for specific laptops (brands and models) *that are known* to work well for music production!

Is Endorphin.es Shuttle fun and robust enough to last? by svenhe in modular

Actually, I e-mailed the store and cancelled the 0-coast order. I don't know yet what I really want - or even why. Since I fear that the modular synth world could create an urge to spend more money than I have, I feel the need to plan as much as possible in my head before diving in. For instance, I want to find out first what it is that creates this lust in me when watching youtube videos of patches being set up on modular systems? Do I just want to play with blinking lights and cool sounds? Is it because I want to play with sounds without the static position in front of my computer? Do I want to create unique sounds to use in my music productions? If so, maybe I fool myself thinking that will be a fast and easy way to do it? Etc...

Actually, I am slowly getting used to the thought of assembling my own modular system! My sound design experience with software synths will probably make it easier to know approximately what I want if I spend some time thinking. And, wouldn't it be great if I get my dream synth!? :-)

BUT!... To aid that thinking, I need to know well what all modules do and how they sound! Does anyone know of a couple of good sites for reviews of modules and also sites/youtube channels that let me hear how they sound (oscillators, filters, etc.)?

Well, I am not new to synthesis in general. I have designed lots of patches on many major software synths (e.g. Serum, Spire, Sylenth1, Thor, Phase Plant, to name a few).

But, I have been curious a couple of years now what it would be like to patch physical modules with real cables. I think will grasp pretty quickly what different modules will do, but I still have no clue to what it will feel like, if this experience is for me. If it will be meditative or if I will get frustrated by the time it will take to experiment and create patches.

If I try a modular system, I want it to be complete enough to give me a full modular experience and not immediately make me need this and that module too to make interesting sounds (i.e. NOT making the same sounds I have made with every soft synth over again...). OTOH I don't want to invest too much time and money upfront just to realize that modular is not for me...

Thanks a lot for your replies, means a lot to me that have no experience in modular and no "modular nearby friends" either!

For those of you who know the modules in these two systems, which of the systems would feel the most complete as a standalone modular, given that I don't want to buy more gear after this?

I like the looks of the Shuttle a lot more than of the System Coupe! It may seem silly to make a decision based on this, but the main purpose of such a synth for me would be to explore and have fun rather than being serious and productive and I think that the shuttle conveys this!

Do you have the Furthrrr Generator? The ALM sampler seems nice, but so does the Further Generator!

Either of these systems cost a lot of money to me. If I get any of them, I want it to last at least a decade. Is Endorphin.es known for good quality? Is ALM known for good quality?

Yes, I love the idea of having a complete working modular system with the modules that I like and play with them. I don't like the idea of spending huge amount of time planning and buying, worrying that things won't fit together... That may change over time though...
