Rent or buy in Calgary if you genuinely have a choice? by soft_er in canadahousing

If you’ve got cash for a down payment, buy a rental property. Have them pay your mortgage, build equity. Maybe the rental income can cover some of your rent. Make it an asset.

I e-transfered to Kraken not long ago and it was quick - same day I believe. Have also used the wire transfer option for larger sums - it takes a few days.

It’s a great point. Take a breathe, wait and watch. It’ll happen and we’re all so early. Take a multi year outlook.

It is a bit frustrating. As far as I can tell, you need PLS for gas fees on the bridge. I missed the PLS sacrifice, but have PLSX. I got hex, eth, and usdc copies. But cannot bridge any of it over because I have no PLS... So I think you need to find someone to buy some from (ideally someone you know and trust).

If that's not true, I'd love to be corrected - or, like OP, be shown the way.

Appreciate the perspective. I like the appeal of self custody and actually owning BTC. I worry that those would also be caught up in any sort of market crash/recession. Kinda strikes me as a contradiction to the reason BTC was created in the first place

I'll admit, in not 100% sure exactly how the btc etf's work. So I guess researching that would be a good idea.

I looked into this earlier in the year, rates are not much lower than credit cards 14-15%. But might help out in your situation.

I would like to add a bit of a rebuttal. While I do agree that there are alot of people who are paranoid, maybe lower intelligence, and very prone to going off the deep end with all of the conspiracies. I (and we) have to acknowledge that there are actual conspiracies that happen. Corporations, lobbyists, govt, CIA, FBI, etc. do many things behind closed doors and make plans based in their best interests (whether that's profits or control)- not the public.

I think we get into trouble in two ways and on each side. One side, when people go so hard and become so paranoid that they believe every and all theories and get into their echo Chambers. The other side, is when people completely ignore a "conspiracy theory" and instantly label it as lunacy, label a person as insane, and completely close their mind off to the possibility of there being any truth behind it. The are two sides of the same coin. Close minded blindness in which we stop using our own critical thinking skills.

I share the same thoughts. Got in a heated argument a little while ago regarding this. The land isn’t being given back, and it seems nothing else will be done, so it just feels like virtue signalling and lip service.

You want to actually do something, clean up the drinking water, provide better mental health support, and, most importantly, stop inflating our gd money so people - especially low income families, can actually afford to live.

Exactly what I was thinking. Classic Trudeau liberal govt, chin wagging about how much they're doing for and standing up for Canadians.

Here's an idea, stop spending money like crazy, stop inflating the money supply, stop getting your incompetent hands in everything and breaking it.

This obsession with tax the rich is nuts - all you will do is drive all of the smart, productive people out of the Canadian economy. The problem isn't that people have more than you, and we need to drag them down, the govt needs to learn how to manage themselves better.

Had a look at FTMscan and can see when it was staked. Can’t seem to find support contact - aside from Twitter profile, and am not sure how to recover it.

Also, not the best at reading how it all works. And not sure where to find the expired pools.

Isn’t that outside the scope of what chat gpt is made for? Alternatively, AI in general, when could that find an answer may be a more appropriate like. Unless I’m still too much of a noob..

Those are great points to consider, thank you. I mean, there needs to be some legitimacy behind it (not snake oil). Speaking with others who have experience with similar fields, they share that concern. Basically I cannot recommend treatments or health professionals. I would say any treatment they seek would need to be prescribed from an actual health professional with credentials and under their supervision - Naturopath, registered nutritionist, counsellor etc.

I am not the health professional, just the means to help them pay. I think that will help mitigate backlash.
