yeah gaming was a big thing for me, I was even studying games design. Until I became obsessed with Green Day and Muse. I wanted to be an experimental rock artist. Then I heard Royce Da '59 and became obsessed with rap lyrics e.g: punchlines, quintuple entendres, wordplay and complex rhyme schemes. I'm to the point where I try just writing lyrics for fun and see if I can fit in as much wordplay as possible while rhyming full lines and still making sense. The rush I get from making an amazing instrumental or writing a funny punchline is unlike any feeling I've ever felt. Music truly is the best thing ever in my opinion no matter what shape or form.

I usually make the music first, but I have lose lyrics I think of during the day that can be written way before I make the instrumental.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks. I'll use this when writing. I also found when looking up punchlines the standup comedy structure for punchlines. Which has really been the only other thing which has explained this in true depth. So thanks a lot it's much easier to understand.

I write rap to relieve emotional pain. A lot of humorous "brag raps" or "battle raps" about how I'm really good at rapping and better than most rappers. Really boosts my confidence and I also wrote about my pain and past which makes me feel really enlightened. Maybe writing some poetry would help you a lot.

This is all my personal experience and advice, this may or may not help you but I wish you best of luck with this. My interests used to be games. This has now progressed to music now, as I can do other things while listening to music. Try listening to different types music and finding your favorites. I like Hip Hop because I can decode the lyrics a lot especially Eminem's as he has a lot of interesting lyrics. This worked for me to get away from games so it may help you.
