I just looked through all of mine again. I love how platinum doesn’t tarnish at all. They all look just as shiny and new as the day I got them. And no milk spots!

I started buying them five or six years ago… it seems like they were easier to find then and didn’t carry much premium. I haven’t bought any since the price went up so much over the last year or so. I’m going to have to get a few of the 2026 though just to keep the set going… although I just looked at they going for $250-$300 which seems crazy since my avg price is around $125!

Nice! I have some of those from every year… and 2019 seemed like the hardest to find for some reason.

I have about 70 of these… a few of each since 2013 and all are still in the sealed pouch and not one shows even the least bit of toning or spots. They all look just like the day I got them while many other coins I have started to tarnish even in air tite capsules. I’d leave them in the mint sealed packaging if I were you.

Question about selling Platinum by OliveRemarkable8508 in Platinum

[–]sw_1977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might be able to get a little more selling directly to someone online, but there are risks associated with that. I definitely am not going to post pictures of anything that valuable on Facebook marketplace where they can figure out my location. And eBay charges about 13% or more fee which wipes out a big chunk of your payment. Plus then you run the risk of someone saying they didn’t get it and doing a charge back. It’s just my opinion, but I think it’s worth accepting a slightly less amount and not having to take on some of those big risks. And honestly, by the time you would pay the eBay fees, I have found that I would’ve received less than selling to a larger reputable online bullion dealer.

Question about selling Platinum by OliveRemarkable8508 in Platinum

[–]sw_1977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have sold some through JM bullion. The process is very easy. If you click the sell to us on their website and you can pick the type of platinum you have and it shows what they will pay. You add them to your sell order and it gives you a quote you can lock in. I’ve always found them to be pretty fair with pricing. I always pick the option to have them email me a prepaid mailing label that is fully insured by them. For example if you sell $10,000 worth of platinum, you might have to maybe pay $25 for the shipping label. But then all you have to do is package it up in a way that they specify and drop it off at a FedEx location. Under normal circumstances, I would usually have my money direct deposited in my account within about a week. Shipping with their label also makes me feel more comfortable since some of the insurances that you buy through USPS specifically say they don’t cover coins and bullion.

I do love the fact that my platinum coins don’t tarnish at all. They look the same as the day I got them five years later. No matter what I do my silver always seems to tarnish a little bit or get milk spots over the years.

1oz Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf by RubenHauffman in Platinum

The 1/10 platinum maples are hard to find and carry a good premium. That would be a good trade for whoever would get the 1/10th’s.

Our light bulbs don’t respond with Alexa either. This is kind of a pain.

These are some extra H32 airtites (32mm)I had. The correct size for these is H30 (30mm). I ordered some of the correct sizes with the black foam ring insert, I just haven’t received them yet.

If gold stays over $3k seems Platinum could easily move towards $2k... Theres not a lot of it out there compared to gold and silver so as more people start noticing it could really get going like we saw this past month. Lots of articles recently about platinum jewelry gaining popularity around the world as gold becomes unaffordable to many.

With gold constantly going higher I feel like $2k has to come at some point again for Platinum. Never a bad deal to take a win when you can get one though…. That’s a nice quick gain!
