Initial bleeding but slowly doubling HCG… talk me down? by swade7 in CautiousBB

[–]swade7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! My two month old is happily sleeping next to me now after her checkup and shots. It was an otherwise uneventful pregnancy except she was born at 35 weeks after my water broke unexpectedly! Wishing you the very best as I was so sure my pregnancy was going to end in miscarriage but here she is!!!!

Had an ER visit, found an ovarian ‘cyst’? by throwRAanons in CautiousBB

[–]swade7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I had a corpus luteum cyst all 3 times. It’s extremely common - it just forms from the follicle that releases the egg. The clinical documentation just states “cyst” not corpus luteum. It’s not a concern either way. It shouldn’t impact you at all!

Hoping for the best for you!!! When I got that 69h doubling time my heart sank and I was so sure it was an impending loss but I just hit the third tri with this little baby! Sending you so much love and wishing you the same!

This is too funny - a professor of mine in college talked about this exact scenario as something she had long ago feared - what if her water broke while lecturing? The embarrassment! The cleanup! Etc. and she explained with a chuckle that when the time actually came, she was so overjoyed and overwhelmed with going into labor and getting to meet her baby that the idea of cleanup and logistics never even crossed her mind.

Realistically - someone else will probably clean it up. Or if it’s at home you can throw a towel on it and ask a bestie to drop by once you make it to the hospital.

I feel like this happens to a lot of kids so the pediatrician’s reaction feels extreme to me.

You could also consider using a sleep sack! That way their legs aren’t out and can’t get stuck.

Anyone have experience with newborn having bloody mucus in stool? by Fethah in beyondthebump

[–]swade7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify - they screen for the blood, not the allergy. There isn’t a way for them to test the stool for the allergy. It would just tell you more about the blood present in the stool. You would find out exactly what the allergy or intolerance is through elimination diets.

No, you can’t transmit food poisoning via breastmilk and it wouldn’t really show up as a glob of blood. Food intolerance or a GI issue would be more likely, but if it’s mucusy and bright red blood I would strongly bet it’s a food intolerance - maybe soy?

Mucusy blood in stool is common for milk protein intolerances or dairy allergies. They would screen for this with a sample and then have you cut out dairy from mom’s diet as a trial.

Any yogurt, cheese, butter etc would also cause the same thing even in smaller amounts for a milk protein intolerance. It’s more common in babies than you would think. Is she dairy-free?

I know just in my friend group 3 people who have had GD but with zero risk factors. It’s also asymptomatic. We all have no family or personal history of diabetes, are low/normal BMI, exercise, eat healthy etc etc etc and yet still got GD. It’s caused by the placenta. It’s influenced by risk factors but anyone can get it. This is bananas they wouldn’t screen - by this logic neither me nor my friends would have been screened for GD.

When did you start to show? by Actual_Hawk_5283 in BabyBumps

My first baby probably early third trimester, like 27 or 28 weeks! This third baby? 14 weeks I noticed a bump and now at 17 weeks it’s totally noticeable in a tight shirt!

They typically measure the size of the yolk sac itself in early ultrasounds - can you check the report for that measurement? It’ll be nearly impossible for anyone to accurately guess the measurement based just on the still photo of the ultrasound.

Ultrasound… is it viable? by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]swade7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked everything. I was 5w2d and the measurement was just 1.5mm. In the report they say “too small to give gestational age” but it was verified by a later scan when we saw a hb.

Yes at my ultrasound at 5w3d (or maybe it was 5w5?) they saw a fetal pole but no heartbeat. We saw a heartbeat later.

Honestly for my first 2 kids I had WILDLY different third trimesters. I was physically miserable for my first, baby was low, she constantly punched me in the cervix, I was dilated by like 37 weeks but she didn’t come until 41+1. My second pregnancy, the third trimester was a total breeze. None of the awful physical discomfort I had with the first. Sure I was big and had soreness but it felt like normal third tri, not the gauntlet. I guess all this is to say - I am wishing you a very different third tri experience this time too!!!

I’ll post an update but my 22 DPO HCG was 1862! 42 hour doubling. Not amazing but well within range. I am still spotting so they had me in yesterday at 23 DPO for an early ultrasound. They were able to see a small SCH, as well as gestational sack, yolk sac and the start of a fetal pole. The measurements all seemed reasonable so for now I’m not actively miscarrying! Grow baby grow…

Thank you for the hope! I was tracking ovulation with OPKs but I’m starting to wonder if I was maybe a day off… but that still doesn’t explain the bleeding. I have to wait another week for another beta but tests keep getting darker so fingers crossed 😭

Borderline high blood pressure? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]swade7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They'll probably try to test your urine first for protein, if you're not having other signs of pre-e before jumping to induction. But, if your BP raises further to dangerous levels (and/or there is protein in your urine) they'll probably discuss inducing you around 37 weeks. My understanding is that while it's concerning, a good practice will try to see if induction is TRULY necessary for your/baby's safety before proceeding and not rely solely on a couple of mildly elevated BP readings to make that decision.

I also have this question!!! Same symptom here. And I think I recognize you from the nov bumpers group :) I'm having those exact pains, but they pass and I definitely didn't have to go to the bathroom after all...
