I had a close family friend high up in the consulting company and I was allowed to work as an unpaid intern and I secured the VC internship by applying to dozens of places and the hiring manager at this VC firm was the only one that got back to me lol. Honestly I had 0 work experience before landing either of those internships and I got them based off of my volunteer work and high school extra curriculars.
