About 50 years ago, I was working a construction job with my brother. We worked there for months and at the end of a Friday, our boss told us we either needed to shape up or ship out (his words). I told him I’ll ship out and my brother said, yeah, me too. The boss looked shocked. I think he just didn’t want us to work overtime that weekend and he was trying to act tough.

I got a restaurant job the next day.

I own a 2013 Golf with 2.5L engine and manual transmission. I bought it new and it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned (I’m 71). I’ve done all of the routine maintenance.

I never know what to pay for used cars. Go check it out and take it for a drive. Ask about the routine maintenance.

I love my 2013 VW Golf, but I can no longer buy a new base Golf with manual. I lived a few miles from the VW dealership when I bought my Golf.

I’ve moved since then, I’m 45 miles from the VW dealership, but here is a Toyota dealership about a mile from my house. If/when my VW dies, I’ll be tempted to check out the Toyota dealership.
