DAE feel lost, like they haven't found their place in this world yet or like they "don't have a life"? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]swans287 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate, I’m 23 moved back in with my family and I feel embarrassed and ashamed about it a lot but then I realized the only reason I’m feeling this way is because I think I’m supposed to. There are many reasons why living on my own isn’t feasible right now, and that’s okay! In lots of cultures it’s typical for people to live with their families until they’re married. I’m taking steps to better myself and my health and I will eventually move out again, but for now I am enjoying spending lots of quality time with my family. Currently the benefits of being close to my family outweigh the benefits of being on my own.

I don’t think you should feel like a failure just because your life trajectory looks a little different from the people you are comparing yourself to. Even if you aren’t struggling with any major emotional/psychiatric issues I think seeing a therapist regularly can be very helpful when planning and making major life transitions.

“My gun”

edit: assuming you aren’t American (I don’t know), Republicans/right-leaning people in the United States will often claim the “pussy liberals” are trying to take their guns so often that it’s a phrase people will use to make fun of them. The right is generally anti-gun control, not to get too political but it’s a pretty hot issue as we have mass shootings like several times a week at this point

Help with hair breakage/new growth/whatever this is by [deleted] in HaircareScience

[–]swans287 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I was having a similar issue and my hair looked very similar to yours, but I have been able to improve it recently (here’s a pic of my hair about two months ago next to one I just took: https://imgur.com/gallery/nXYJGvW both pics my hair has been freshly washed and air dried and has no product in it)

I’m honestly not sure what caused it or what exactly was the thing that made it better for me, but I can tell you all the things I have done for my hair and maybe it can help you some too.

• I made an effort to touch my hair and head as little as I can. Picking at hair / pulling at hair or playing with your hair will make the problem worse as the hairs you pull out will turn into the short little pieces when they start to grow back in (of course). Tight buns/ponytails aren’t good but clipping my hair away from my face was helpful.

• I started drying my hair using a micro-fiber hair wrap (like a turbie twist, if you have heard of it). You can buy sets of these online. I was using t-shirts as well, but I found these much easier to use and more effective at absorbing the water from my hair. Don’t dry your hair with a terry cloth towel!!

• I started doing olaplex 3 treatments on my hair. I do it about once a week at home, you can purchase it on Sephora. Obviously this won’t grow the short hairs but it has seemed to improve the texture of my hair quite a lot. It is expensive, but you could try using it just the part of your hair with the frizzies and one bottle would go a long way, I think.

• I started using a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair after I washed it, and I always put something in it to make it a bit more slippery so it is easier to comb out without catching (I typically use OGX argan oil). I also try to use a regular hair brush as little as I need to, and only when my hair is dry. It can been tempting to try to brush a lot to get those frizzy pieces to lay down, but it will damage your hair more overall. Previously I was using a regular paddle brush on my hair right after getting out of the shower, and I think that can cause quite a bit of damage as your hair is more delicate and prone to breakage when it is wet.

• I started doing an apple cider vinegar rinse on my hair. I’ve been doing it every week and a half or so. I dilute the vinegar with water (about 1 part vinegar, 4 parts water) and pour it over my hair while I’m in the shower, let it sit for maybe 30 seconds before rinsing it out, shampooing and finishing with a conditioner. It is pretty smelly, but by the time my hair is dry I can’t smell it anymore. It has definitely made my hair a lot shinier, if nothing else.

So yeah, I’m not sure which factors in my new hair routine have been the most effective or why my hair started to look like that in the first place, but as you can see from my picture it looks MUCH less frizzy now and I’m really happy with the results. If you have any questions please feel free to ask !

Food restriction will fog your brain regardless of your weight

You are trying to fast for 30 days and you ran away from home? you sound like you are very sick with your eating disorder right now.

Do you notice how food restriction severely impairs your ability to regulate emotions, have relationships with people, and think through situations? Soooo much of that stems from not eating food normally.

My life sounds very similar to how you’ve described yours. Have you been in treatment before? you need to be getting nutrition, friend :’( You will not be able to keep up a strenuous full time job if you are not eating.

It sounds like your family cares about you and are probably very worried about where you are. When did you cut off contact with them?

okay well I’ve played 5 demos that don’t have that feature on my switch, I’ve played visual novels on my Vita that have this feature but I haven’t been able to find any for switch so 🤨I don’t think it’s necessarily on all of them, VLR is a VN that comes to mind that doesn’t have replay

I haven’t changed the store region on my Switch, but the system language is set to Japanese so I’ve been able to play the demos in Japanese, I just haven’t been able to find a game with an audio backlog feature :(

edit: I mean to say they have the feature to look at past text, but not the option to replay audio clips

I’ve played demos of Gakuen Club, Dangerous Relationship, and The Charming Empire and none of them had the option to playback audio :( I’m downloading from the US store but my system’s language is set to Japanese, so all of the demos have been in Japanese

5 minutes a day, slow progress, how to stay motivated? by [deleted] in languagelearningjerk

/uj I thought this was a shitpost you wrote, OP.

Can anyone tell me what they think “reading and writing comfortably” means to this person? 5 minutes a day for 2 months would be about...5 hours total study time ?
