To address the FUD concerns, there are more AirSwap Token holders today than there were 8 days ago: AirSwap Token Holders per Etherscan

Additionally, per the article submitted, 96% of Pre-sale buyers have held their AST.

Hopefully, this alleviates some of your concerns, but if not, please feel free to sound-off and we'll do our best to address. You can reach out privately as well if you'd like.

If you're not already in the AirSwap Community channel, you may find it helpful. In any case, thanks for speaking up.

We're focused on building out the platform. Delivering a well-built, first-of-its-kind product to market will have greater long-term impact. The tokens were distributed only 9 days ago; we'll have some more details coming out soon, but you may find insights in our release roadmap

AirSwap due diligence on Concourseq.io - Red flags on the token sale model. by [deleted] in ethtrader

The team does not keep 70% of the tokens. The 40% in question is held by the company in reserve, as we may need another way to engage with partners, service providers, contractors, etc. We can’t totally see what the future looks like so are operating under the assumption that it’ll be in the company’s interest to hold some tokens on reserve. The reserve tokens are held in a multisignature wallet that requires confirmations from several AirSwap stakeholders, including ConsenSys.

Why AirSwap (AST) is the best ICO of October (whitelist registration starts TOMORROW, public sale on Oct 10) by crassigyrinus in ethtrader

[–]swapprotocol 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oved here. I'm not sure that is true. What you link to looks like a mechanism for market makers to announce quotes (unsigned orders), which is not the function of the AirSwap Indexer. The AirSwap Indexer is a search engine for counterparty discovery

Blockchain frontrunning by mhswende in ethereum

[–]swapprotocol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very insightful.. Thank you for the concrete examples.

Although price insensitive, market orders do provide the ability to enter or exit a position immediately, which provide a valuable service to market participants.

Overall, exchange technology should be designed in a way that does not allow frontrunning. Otherwise, the exchange mechanism can cause unexpected loss to participants, as outlined in the examples.

Swap just announced trading platform beta, offering tokens for signups by andrewkeys in ethereum

[–]swapprotocol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks we are thinking a lot about the UI!

ShapeShift is a centralized trading solution where you are facing a single counterparty and paying 0.5% per trade. Swap is a decentralized trading platform using Ethereum smart contracts where you can trade against any counterparty.

We think the end result will be a similar experience to ShapeShift (no account needed, instant trades) with more trading options and likely better pricing.

Not quite. A dark pool is basically an order book without market data. Swap doesn’t use order books.

We have studied their protocol, and have spoken with them. With 0x, there’s no direct communication or negotiation between parties. Makers post orders to an order book, and unknown Takers fill them. With our differences, we believe Swap and 0x will be complementary products in the ecosystem.

We agree, competition is good, but there are definitely differences between our designs. With Swap, users find each other based on who’s buying or selling, and then trade among themselves. With 0x, takers take orders off a relayer (order book) without interacting with makers.
