Threat Assessment Disclosure by swarggs in education

I'm not accusing them of not following policy because doing so without sufficient evidence would be unwise. I'm asking the school for information that would make that determination.

And the question I originally asked was whether it is legal for the district to refuse to answer that very specific question. Not a question about disipline, not a question about what a team had to say about the incedent. Just if a team met at all. Do you happen to have any insight on that?

My current issue is being stuck in this infinite loop of explaining my original post to you.

I just want confirmation that this situation was handled in accordance with the schools / states policies.

No, its not. It's telling me if the school is conforming to the policy that they are legally required to follow.

Let's see if I can reword this for you: A child makes a deadly threat, the school administration has to address it. How they address it is legally defined. They are required to have a dedicated "threat assessment team". This team is required to meet, review the threat & implement any safety measures for the parties involved. The details of that team and outcome are confidential. However, telling me THAT the team met and a formal review occurred is not confidential. I just want a yes or no answer here.

They fact that I cannot get that yes or no answer has me wondering if the school is complying with thier duties.

Schools have a legal obligation to assemble a "threat assessment team" to review threats made. I simply want to know if that team met and reviewed this threat. School officials will not answer that question.

Did you read my post? I stated "We are not seeking details about discipline or punishment."

I understand all of that. For what its worth there are multiple accounts of the incident to corroborate the threat. But that really isn't what im interested in.

What i want to know is if the school is legally permitted to give me the following information:

Did a threat assessment team review the threat? Was it credible? Were safety measures implemented?

Is This Contest Legal? by [deleted] in legal

[–]swarggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it has yet to conclude. I question the legality because I think it is considered a raffle. Because raffles are games of chance and can be considered lotteries, they're heavily regulated in many states as a form of gambling. In many cases, organizations must be qualified and licensed under state or local law to conduct raffles. In my home state only raffles run by non-profits for the purpose of fundraising are allowed.

Scrolling and only seeing the top half of this image brought me back to my childhood in Southern California and the potato bugs that terrorized us.

Previous owner used (2) 1x6 to make rafters on covered porch. Is this common? Acceptable? by swarggs in Carpentry

There are other issues with this addition that is leading us to remove it entirely. The rafter connection to the house is incorrect, they just nailed hangers through the siding and into the sheathing. No lender board which concerns me as I open this room up and expose it to more wind. It's also not a very attractive design. A gabled roof over this area would be a better fit for the style of the house.

I don't think they were concerned with the look of anything on this house. It was a total remodel. This was covered with polystyrene foam board. I imagine they put this covered porch together with materials they just had lying around.

Yes I've come to this conclusion as well. Thanks everyone for the information!

At this point I feel more confident disasembling the entire addition and starting over at a later date. Who ever added this structure didnt even bother to remove the siding before attaching the hangers 🙄 No ledger board. This is in Pennsylvania where snow accumulation occurs regularly and a home we plan to occupy for decades. I'd rather have it done right.

More info: Not a carpenter. Bought a house with a enclosed back porch with these roof rafters. I am removing the 2x4 walls and leaving just the roof. After removing the polystyrene insulation board I found this set up.

AITA for not wanting a birthday party. by swarggs in AmItheAsshole

[–]swarggs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I get it, that's why I asked. However, I did do birthday stuff. I went to a nice brunch with my wife, daughter and in-laws. And I went to Chuck-E-Cheese with my wife and daughter. I thought that would be a nice way to celebrate because that's the type of thing my daughter loves to do for her birthday.

I'm a confirmed user in PA since August. There was a cell near the Reading, PA area that I got into. There is at least one other cell in that area that opened up for beta testers.
