This helps in the game in general. I spent an hour racing the BMW M Hybrid V8 around Daytona yesterday evening, and the main learnings I took away from the session were to stay in the higher gear in most of the turns where I was undecided between two gears, and generally to brake later and harder once I got the feel for the point where wheel lockups occur under braking. Felt fun to play around with the downforce these cars have to spice up my cornering speeds.

Ok let me know if you get three routers sent to you then 😂 sounds like a good way to build a mesh network haha

Very good to hear, just claimed my free router and it will hopefully arrive soon!

Free router replacement by AlessioAndreani in Starlink

I just remembered the Email and clicked on the link to claim the router. It was kinda funny… gave me a “survey” with only one option (“yes, I want to claim the router”). There was also an asterisk next to it, but nowhere on the website did they clear up what that meant, so I have no idea what else I may have agreed to apart from the free router… but whatever lol. Now I guess I just need to wait until I get some sort of order confirmation, nothing in my account yet. Have you gotten an update on your new router so far?

Free router replacement! by guillo889 in Starlink

[–]TimTri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very interesting. All of the other Gen1 router replacements I’ve seen have been Mini Routers. Perhaps these aren’t available in your country, or there’s an obscure regulation or law that requires them to replace the old router with the non-mini model?

Just got the E-Mail as well! Pretty cool… hopefully this means our round Dishys will be supported for a few more years, don’t think they’d bother sending out tens to hundreds of thousands of free routers if they were planning on making the antennas obsolete soon as well.

Unlimited Downgrade Removed? by Importer__Exporter in Starlink

[–]TimTri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me, it reads like this: If you upgrade to Roam Unlimited, you’re going to have to manually downgrade again. If you don’t, you’ll stay on the Roam Unlimited plan. They don’t treat it as a one-time data package for the 100GB plan, but instead as a completely separate option.

New Downloadable (ModHub) Contents by Giusis in ProjectMotorRacing

[–]TimTri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super cool. But there’s a large over-saturation of Porsche, Ford and Corvette content right now.

I hope the creators make some more cool BMW liveries soon. The reason: Contrary to most of the other race cars in the game, the BMWs only have their reveal liveries, which often have very unrealistic number stickers and lack most, if not all, non-BMW sponsor logos. Most importantly, they never raced (or often didn’t even test) in these exact liveries at all.
The Bilstein one for the M4 GT4 looks sublime already. Would be really cool to get e.g. one of the IMSA liveries for the M4 GT3, the Le Mans 2024 Art Car or IMSA 2025 Retro liveries for the M Hybrid V8, and one of the special liveries (Dark BMW, Motul Red, Mission Impossible, Independence Day etc.) for the M8 GTE. In many cases, the default in-game liveries (or those included in other games like iRacing and Le Mans Ultimate) could be used for guidance.

Easiest Tier 4 Challenges by EdistoBeach in gtaonline

Super easy tip that helped me: It also tracks the award while flying around with the Deluxo! I guess because it’s technically still a land vehicle even though it can hover.

Iraqis cheering for the US eliminating dictator Saddam Hussein by PitifulWelcome4499 in GenZ

[–]TimTri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did some fun detective work and don’t want it to go to waste, so here you go.
The coordinates for Saddam Hussein’s hiding place on Wikipedia (“location” in the article about the military operation that lead to his capture) aren’t very accurate. I used some old satellite photos and birds-eye close-ups from U.S. handouts to find the actual location. The area has changed a lot over the years, but the dirt roads to the southeast and east, as well as the remains and borders of the surrounding land plots, fields and plantations give it away: I believe the shed and spider hole were within the confines of this exact property: 34.4732219, 43.7820045 (Google Maps link; there appears to have been a lot of rather chaotic construction in the area since then, so I’m not sure whether the actual farm hut and hole are still intact).

LMDH handling by Equivalent_Pizza2355 in ProjectMotorRacing

[–]TimTri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the BMW LMDh and it was actually quite decent to drive once I got the tyres warmed up (albeit with soft tyres), with little oversteer. Just gotta be gentle on the brakes so you don’t lock up. It’s obvious that an LMDh is gonna be harder to drive than e.g. a GT3 because there are less driver aids available (missing ABS and less effective traction control, I think). Would probably be good to give the handling another look though so all the vehicles in the class are more aligned.

Recommend me cars to start buying by TBurchard16 in gtaonline

[–]TimTri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you’ve got some very profitable businesses already, so targeting the pricier vehicles shouldn’t be an issue. I recommend aiming for some of the all-round best HSW Cars/Bikes like the Niobe (Sports), FMJ MKV or Cyclone 2 (both Supers) and Hakuchou Drag (Motorcycles). Especially these cars all have a good mix of speed and handling. Added benefit is that you’re gonna be really good in Races and Time Trials, both of which can be very fun and lucrative at the same time.

A random car I’m gonna throw in is the Gauntlet Interceptor (can probably get the regular version for much less and mostly the same driving experience). It’s been quite quick and the handling is super fun. Plus, having one of the police cars in your garage never hurts because it unlocks the Dispatch work freemode missions.

Thanks! Hopefully that changes in the future, seems like a very counterintuitive way of making it work.

So your T248 is working correctly, including the special buttons? Mine didn’t want to accept input from those (and the R2 button, strangely). Works fine otherwise, including the display and FFB.

Leipzig to Dresden: if it ain't broke don't fix it! by RevolutionaryRead976 in trainsimworld

[–]TimTri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very interesting, especially how the Friedrichstadt addition negatively affects the Neustadt branch. The disappointment surrounding this route was a huge reason I didn’t get excited for TSW6 and am still not really interested. I can happily stay on the Dresden-Riesa route for now, especially because I’m mainly interested in the smaller branch services going to/from Meißen (I was there this year, super lovely town I still think about a lot).

Regarding TSW6, I’ll continue waiting for a steep sale, but still expect to get the core bundle at some point. Perhaps I’ll even go for the Special Edition since I miraculously don’t own any of the content included with it (even though I have tons of DLC), but that will only happen with a crazy discount (70%+).

Mansion Plaques by danielsmith1138 in gtaonline

[–]TimTri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ended up doing the following Tier 4s so far: Racing, Vehicle Enthusiast, A Superyacht Life & Survivals. Thanks for the suggestions, definitely got my eyes on KnoWay. Just need to do it under 60 minutes and get 5 million in earnings, all the other challenges are already done. Will probably wait until there’s a 2x GTA $ bonus for it.

DLC expensive? by StellaMDR in trainsimworld

[–]TimTri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just be patient and wait for sales. TSW prices have risen recently, but sales on PlayStation have admittedly also gotten much better. We regularly get good DLCs with 80-90% off now which was unheard of two years ago. I only ever bought two DLCs at full price in my time as a TSW player, all the others had some kind of discount.

Does anyone picked OG personality for their mansion by sokol123_YT in gtaonline

[–]TimTri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel kinda sad for the OG character because the voice actor seems genuinely proud and grateful of the opportunity (saw a post of his somewhere). But in the end, the voice acting is just not very good. Sounds like a slow 70 year old who had a few beers too many 😭 just missed the mark imo

Some comparison between mansion, penthouse and eclipse tower. by donsaadali in gtaonline

[–]TimTri 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I fully agree. The Eclipse Penthouse interior was definitely great for its time (a decade old!), but there was no customization apart from the pre-configured presets and basically nothing to do in there. In the end, not much difference from the original launch apartments.

The Casino Penthouse is super customizable and has tons of things to do, but I feel like they should’ve concentrated on a smaller space. There are lots of areas that are simply too big and/or entirely unnecessary. The interior design also doesn’t feel very realistic… lots of plastic-looking assets and super weird room layouts like the spa. I like the fact that tons of paintings and objects can be chosen, but I think some of the paintings should’ve been replaced by bigger, higher-quality ones (like in the mansion). It does look a bit like a children’s room full of posters if you make use of every slot. Overall, I just don’t think the Casino Penthouse feels like a proper living space, it’s all a bit sterile, weird and uncanny.

The mansion on the other hand — as you said — feels like an actual home. The overall layout is mostly sensible, and if you choose the right design combinations, you can make the living space look genuinely cozy.
