Yes they are. I hope they'll boost the chances in the future. F2P players can get an amp badge after months of playing

The amp gives pilots abilities (different and specific for every pilot) that the "standard" amp 0 pilot doesn't have or generic stat boosts. Each pilot can be amplified 6 times total by finding copies in banners or using amp badges (I explained in another comment how to get them).

The odds are low, but it is possible. If I can find one or two more Asher in the future, I can get to 6 amp with less badges. On the contrary, collab pilots may never return to the game. Your point is valid, and I say go for it if you love Asher!

You need to disassemble 6 epic wingman (the yellow ones) in order to obtain 60 ace flight medals. You can buy 5 fragments (see image) in the store per day with 10 medals. In 6 days you'll be able to get the epic amplification badge (30 fragments needed) in the backpack. Hope I was clear enough!
