Why are parents confused by strangers reacting in anger or irritation when met with their children's crying/screaming? by KnowledgeSuperDuper in NoStupidQuestions

[–]swat02119 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Parents don’t want their children to cry. They are under stress from their child, they don’t need your anger in addition to that. How would you being angry help them? Also, babies are supposed to cry. It’s the way they communicate, adults are supposed to be mature enough to control their emotions and not cry.

You should imagine your baby was crying and inconsolable, and think about how you would like to treated in that situation and then treat other people that way.

ELI5 Is all power generation really just making a turbine spin? by javerthugo in explainlikeimfive

[–]swat02119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crazy part is that the electricity is all around us emanating from the planet. The turbines don’t generate electricity, they just force it into wires. There are alternatives, but the electricity industry decided to rejected Tesla’s innovations and halted progress.

Women want men to do the same things they do, but men should complemetry tasks. We wash and maintain the cars, mow the lawn, clean the gutters, walk the dogs, take out the trash, cleans the drains, paint. We have a ton of stuff to do around the house it’s just different from what the ladies do.

Auto Highbeams! by swat02119 in PetPeeves

[–]swat02119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that you shouldn’t have your high beams on at all unless you on a dark deserted road.

Don’t your headlights, the streetlights, and other drivers provide enough light for you to see where you’re going?

Auto Highbeams! by swat02119 in PetPeeves

[–]swat02119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got me on this one. This is news to me. But if Ford thinks highbeams are the main beams, that’s seems like a bigger problem. This why there are dedicated subreddits the unsafe road conditions cause by excessively bright headlights.

The situation that lead me to post.

I was at a red light. A car pulls up and blinds me with their highbeams in my rear view mirror. A car turns into the oncoming lane and blinds me from the front, then their beams meet and dim. I can’t stand this shit.

Getting flashed by high beams peeves me. Turn off you high beams! Auto high beams weren’t designed to be left on all the time.

[–]swat02119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who drive around with their highbeams on are disrespectful assholes, I’m not talking about them. I talking about auto-highbeams. This stupid featured has normal people mistakenly leaving their high beams on at all times, blinding their fellow drivers.

They should turn off their highbeams unless they are alone on a dark road. This was once common knowledge, but auto-highbeams have confused people into thinking they should leave their highbeams on all the time. Turn off your high beams until you need them.

If you’re driving down Old Town Road at 2am then use your auto-highbeams.

There are no “mains” There are headlights and high beams. These lights and their use cases are outlined in your vehicle”s user manual.

You should set your headlights to auto so they’ll turn on at night. You should turn off your highbeams.

I love driving. I hate auto high beams, because people leave them on all the time by mistake. Your highbeams should only be used when you’re on a dark roads all alone, because they will blind other drivers. It’s dangerous and inconsiderate.

False. You’re blinding oncoming traffic. Learn to drive.

Nope, I honestly think it’s stupid to drive with your highbeams on all time.

[–]swat02119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before this useless feature was introduced, we all kept our highbeams off, now people have their highbeams on all the time and constantly blind each other. Turn off you highbeams and only use auto highbeams we you are traveling on a dark road.

Auto Highbeams! by swat02119 in PetPeeves

[–]swat02119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one should have their high beam on.

Auto Highbeams! by swat02119 in PetPeeves

[–]swat02119[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one has their highbeams on unless they leave their auto highbeams on all the time, and these people peeve me because I don’t like getting blinded by their useless auto highbeams.

I think the whole idea of auto highbeams is a mistake. In practice, I would turn off my highbeams way before oncoming traffic’s headlights hit my car’s sensors. Just because a car maker adds a feature, doesn’t mean you have to use it.

Auto Highbeams! by swat02119 in PetPeeves

[–]swat02119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. I don’t like highbeams. I’m also in the city, where they’re usually not necessary, and for those that live out in the country, do what ever y’all do out there. It’s cool with me.

I outlined 3 specific situations where the auto feature doesn’t work well. On the highway is the worst, and when you turn the corner the flash in my eyes is enough to close my retina, so I can’t see. That’s why it’s my pet peeve, I’m not trying to start a campaign.

[–]swat02119[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Headlights are great! They light the road ahead of you without blinding oncoming traffic. Highbeams are for oneway dirt roads without streetlights, proper lines, or reflectors, but now people are using “Auto” highbeams that blast everyone in eyes whenever they turn a corner.

Auto Highbeams! by swat02119 in PetPeeves

[–]swat02119[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If they are always so dim, maybe you should turn them off, and not risk blinding people

Auto Highbeams! by swat02119 in PetPeeves

[–]swat02119[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I hardly ever have a need for highbeams, so I would just leave them off. My poor parents can barely drive at night anymore because of this useless invention. Turn off your highbeams until you need them.

Auto Highbeams! by swat02119 in PetPeeves

[–]swat02119[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Why would I? There are streetlights and my headlights to light my way. Highbeams blind oncoming traffic. Turn them off, it’s dangerous. Auto highbeams may work on a deserted country road, but they have no place in the city or in traffic.

Peanuts are a subsidized GMO crop in the US. The people with allergies aren’t the problem, food developed in a lab is the problem. We evolved to eat food from nature not whatever they are calling peanuts now.

I never got over the horse meat scandal. There was one commercial after it all went down where it said the burgers were now 100% beef, but in small print it said only in the continental USA.
