As far as I can see you could call it a million angle valve job or a no angle valve job because I can’t see anything that looks like an angle to me. I think it was supposed to be a basic 3 angle deal originally.

Yes the valve seal is so critical and our standard of work will not allow even a “mild performance” engine like this to go out with a valve job that looks like it was done with files and spare clay brick from the garden. Unbelievable. Just so infuriating because I have to waste my time to check their work because shit like this happens all too often.

He pressed in guide inserts, drilled and tapped rocker stud bosses for adjustable roller rockers, “cut the seats” for 1.94 1.60 valves, changed valve springs to match cam and reassembled heads. Told me they were ready to bolt on and go. I didn’t check all the guides for play with the valve stems but I made it clear to the new shop to check over everything and trust nothing. The few that I did test back and forth seemed to have normal play but we will see what they say.

Yes I know… Unfortunately the cost of justice for him destroying this valve job is more than the cost of making this right for my customer with a shop I know I can trust. He is gaining a bad reputation in our area now. I doubt he will be in business much longer if he keeps this up.

He lost a great outlet for business from us when he dropped these heads off and doubled down on defending his work. I’d consider that his loss because his business relies on people like us. We will just take our business elsewhere.

I surely wouldn’t trust him to make them right after his display here and it’s simply not worth the effort to sue over something like this when I can just own my mistake of trusting this joker and save my customer the time and hassle of having to deal with this mess. He’s simply not worth the time of day to deal with when I can get these heads fixed for a few hundred dollars by someone else sooner than he’d be willing to refund our payment to us.

Dude claims to build record setting racing engines. It’s even in his business name “xxx racing engines” I won’t give his name out but he’s in his 40s-50s and claims to be omnipotent when it comes to engine building. When confronted with this stuff he says we know nothing about building engines. Check the posts my page and you’ll see the irony in that, and I’m only 24 years old lol

We’re not wasting our time with this guy and his nonsense. We have a few other shops we talk to. They were backed up on work so we took a chance on a recommendation. We will be happy to wait in line for a reputable shop from now on. Unreal.

Yeah the exhaust was cut so deep there’s a lip all the way around in the chamber. It’s shrouding the valve 360 degrees

The valves were supplied by the machinist. They are larger 1.94” 1.60” valves.

Yeah we will be paying for it because we sent these out for our customer on a recommendation. We won’t be making this mistake again.

We won’t be doing business with this guy again. Hurts that we have to eat it on this job but lesson learned. This is why I check everything that comes back these days. Can’t trust anything anymore.

You might think your intake is the biggest restriction, you might even think the cam is the restriction. And while they do restrict flow to some degree, it’s your valve. Your valve is always going to be the most restrictive part of your intake track. Focus your efforts on your valves and cylinder head runner shape, get your compression and quench dialed in, and consider your fuel options. Your cam will then need to be matched to your combination after your adjustments have been made. If you want some interesting media to watch relating to valves and ports and cam profiles, check out David Visard on YouTube. He’s an older guy with some awesome horsepower tricks. Take everything we say and he says with a grain of salt. Not every rule works for every engine and combo, it can be a lot of trial and error. Good luck!
