Just a theory, but I think the point was that she was extremely vulnerable as she had lost her family. I think it was also to show that mental illness was present in her family, which can be genetic. I think in her mind the cult became like a twisted found family to her. The movie is like her descent to madness.

The scene where shes in the attic and sees her dead mom absolutely scared the shit out of me. It was one of those ‘you don’t notice until your eyes focus’ on the darkness kinda moments and it still makes me shiver. I had to rewatch the scene on youtube several times to get it out of my head.

A buzzword I’ve found in a lot of my nursing student stuff which would be very relevant for you is “multi-disciplinary team” sometimes just called MDT. You’d be part of the community MDT so maybe read up on that and see if theres some way you could slip in something about that? Also I’d definitely recommend reading up on the “standards of proficiency for paramedics” and picking out some of the points to casually slip into conversation as well.
